Professional Nurse Specialty - Child Nursing Science (Re-Advertisement)
Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate. Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Degree/Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery) or equivalent qualification that allows registered with the SANC as a professional nurse.
A minimum of 4years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as professional nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC in Child nursing. Knowledge of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices. Candidate will be required to work shifts.
Duties :
Provide comprehensive holistic nursing care to children and neonates in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards. Execute duties and functions with proficiency withing prescripts of applicable legislation.
Monitor, assess and evaluate patients’ conditions and respond following protocols and standards. Ensure effective infection prevention and control practices. Maintain accurate and complete patients’ records and reports. Ensure effective utilization of human, financial and material resources.
Be able to plan your own work and that of the team to ensure proper patients care. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards of self and the team. Perform nursing administration duties and relieving the operational manager when needed. Understand and maintain Child Problem Identification Program data (CHIP).
Adherence to HAST guidelines is required. Improve patients’ care by implementing the standard set in malnutrition and management of sick neonates. Provide professional support for the provision of quality patient as required by Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance. Participate in educating and training of personnel and student nurses.
Able to promote the rights of the patients, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care of patients. Delivering emergency resuscitation and stabilization of patients. Demonstrate innovative leadership qualities in supervising and mentoring junior staff members. Evaluate staff performance adhering to the PMDS policy.
