Projects Engineer (Steelpoort) at Samancor Chrome

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

• To manage the safe and efficient execution of the Capital Investment Portfolio.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Balanced Scorecard Pillars, Roles and Responsibilities:

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, RISK, QUALITY AND COMMUNITY

•  Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox
•  Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
•  Adhere to all related SOP’s, PTO’s and CTO’s as per Training Matrix per position, SHEQ and company standards

PEOPLE
Manage the Section:

•  Ensure an enabling climate/culture
•  Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
•  Labour complement in line with budget 
•  Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the Section
•  Manage performance against set targets and competencies
•  Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
•  Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
•  Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
•  Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
•  Conduct recruitment interviews

CUSTOMERS

•  Ensure Customer Satisfaction
•  Complete projects on time
•  Conduct Post Investment Reviews

BUSINESS PROCESSES
Quality:

•  Conduct ISO and internal audits
•  Interpret and analyse audit findings and make recommendations 
•  Compile action plans to close audit findings 

Risk Management:

•  Conduct Project Risk Assessments
•  Conduct the CURA
•  Measure the effectiveness of Risk Control efforts

Project Services:

•  Compile the Project Definition and Process Specifications
•  Complete Scope of Work Documents for tender purposes
•  Manage the Engineering and Design phase of the Project
•  Manage the Project Contractors
•  Procure Contracted Services
•  Award Project Tenders

GROWTH

• Continuous Improvement 
•  Embed sound Project Management practices

Capital Budgeting:

•  Conduct feasibility studies

• MS Office with report writing and data base creation an advantage

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:

Minimum qualifications:

•  Degree or Technikon Diploma
•  6 Years relevant experience (projects)

Additional qualifications:

•  GCC Mines and Works
