    QC Welding and NDT Inspector (Port Elizabeth)

    As QC Inspector you will ensure that products are processed in a timely and an accurate manner providing accurate and timely reports in accordance with the production schedule. You will work in collaboration with the inspection team encouraging positive open discussions on component deficiencies, safety and quality specifications making recommendations to improve processes, methods and safety.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Interpret or evaluate inspection measurements in accordance with applicable specifications or procedures inclusive of incoming material, consumable and insert inspection
    • Welding and NDE Inspection
    • Perform receiving inspection from vendors (where applicable)
    • In-process inspection (1st off’s and roaming inspection
    • Dimensional inspection, inclusive of D&I (where applicable)
    • Visual inspection
    • Hardness testing
    • Welding consumable certification, welder performance qualifications (WPQ) where applicable
    • Sign off each job stage as required by the detailed works instruction, QAP’s and shop packets, ensure all  charts pertaining to heat treatment are effectively witnessed and reviewed
    • Ensure any anomalies are reported and escalated to the relevant department
    • Final inspection and prepare Inspection reports
    • Raise and process NCR’s as required, determine and take the most appropriate action using all available relevant data sources
    • Support wider inspection function, by carrying out inspection duties when business requirements dictate
    • Determine most effective (Cost, risk and benefit) methodology for inspection of parts and recommend changes to prescribed processes where required.
    • Final review / sign-off of inspection reports 
    • Ensure all QC reports are uploaded to the DMS (Document Management System) under the correct case number and correct naming convention, ensure reports are released
    • Final review / sign-off of ERN and job files when required
    • Request costing and issue move ticket for completed items once ERN has been completed

    Qualifications:  

    • Dimensional capability (measuring capability), 
    • Certified Level II NDE disciplines (MT, PT and UT level II), 
    • Welding Inspector Level II

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • Dimensional, NDT and Welding Inspection experience required. 
    • The ability to sign off each job stage as required by detailed works instruction, be competent in the ability to read and understand the applicable engineering drawings, customer specification, work instructions and transfer this knowledge and detail as part of the works instruction or QAP requirement

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: 

    • Be available for shift work and local / international travel 
    • Knowledge of standards, codes and specifications
