RPO Recruitment's client, a well-established engineering, advisory and technical services firm is seeking a Quality Civil Supervisor to join their project team on a Solar PV project in Gauteng for a duration of 12 months.
This role focuses on ensuring that all civil and structural works are executed in line with project specifications, approved methodologies, and relevant standards, while maintaining a strong presence on site to uphold quality throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and verify the implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) across all civil and structural activities, including earthworks, roads, drainage, foundations, piling, concrete works, buildings, and structural elements
Carry out routine site inspections covering setting-out, excavation, compaction, reinforcement, formwork, concrete placement, curing, grouting, and backfilling
Ensure that all required testing (e.g. slump tests, concrete cubes, compaction tests) is conducted, recorded, and meets specified standards
Review and confirm compliance of materials used on site, including concrete components, reinforcement, aggregates, geotextiles, and fill materials, ensuring proper traceability and handling
Verify dimensions, tolerances, and as-built information to ensure accuracy and alignment with design requirements, particularly at structural interfaces
Identify non-conformances, support the raising of NCRs, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified before progression of works
Coordinate closely with environmental and HSE teams to ensure that quality requirements are aligned with environmental controls such as stormwater management, erosion protection, and site rehabilitation
Contribute to weekly quality reporting, highlighting trends, risks, and any issues impacting programme or performance
Requirements:
National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering (or higher)
2–4 years’ experience in civil construction environments
Exposure to earthworks, concrete, and/or structural works
Basic understanding of site inspections, construction testing (e.g. compaction, concrete), and interpretation of drawings
Experience on infrastructure or building projects will be advantageous
