This role leads quality operations for internal contract manufacturing and in market quality, to deliver quality product that are the first choice for consumers. It will provide line leadership direction, consistent with QSC and commercial priorities, builds the associated capabilities and develops an agile pool of Quality resources to deliver the company’s ambition (and associated metrics). The Quality Lead will partner with South Africa SC and Commercial Leads, as a member of their respective leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities of the role
Active member of the MEA Quality Leadership Team, working actively on strategy deployment and deliver the targets and priorities outlined in the objectives.
Sponsor and disciplined execution of quality and compliance strategies, programs, initiatives and deliverables outlined in the MEA E2E quality plan
Provide strategic quality resources to support and unlock the prioritized investment and growth potential in South Africa, including innovation and new product introductions
Be the independent voice of quality in the South Africa supply chain leadership team as well as commercial leadership team, considering customers and consumers in every decision
Drive efficiencies of quality processes, systems and governance in the regional operations (CMO, LOCs), leveraging digital, data and analytics insights
Identify and manage Quality risks, end to end in the region (escalate, file, propose mitigation and monitor). Ensure timely and effective escalation of quality incidents and provide the necessary coaching to PIRC secretaries and Chairs
Identify trends and work to make our commercial strategies, product portfolio, our processes and our network more robust, and improve our teams’ competencies
Establish a sustainable, compliant and high performing manufacturing and distribution network to optimize QSC, service, cost, innovation, and regulatory compliance. Lead by example on agility, particularly on decision accountability, quality and speed
Win the trust of consumers, customers, regulators and business through the delivery of top quartile performance in quality, compliance and regulatory. Be inspection ready every time, everywhere.
Develop talents from quality; establish effective succession plans for critical roles
Qualifications and skills
Bachelor of Science degree
This role requires a deep level of GMP/GDP knowledge and problem-solving skills due to the often complex and technical origin of product quality issues and events.
Operations experience especially being a functional head, either in quality, technical or manufacturing
Proven supervisory/management experience in Pharmaceutical or Consumer healthcare Quality Assurance, Compliance or a related field, including a position of significant leadership and decision-making authority within Quality or a related function
Experience devising and implementing regulatory compliance strategies and interacting with Regulators.
Experience with new product introduction, network change programs, technology transfer and supply chain management.
Experience with commercial business and in-market activities.
