RPO Recruitment’s client, an established engineering, advisory and technical services firm is seeking a Quality Mechanical Supervisor to join their team on a Solar PV project in Gauteng for a duration of 12 months.
This role is responsible for overseeing and verifying the quality of all mechanical installations on site, ensuring that works carried out by contractors and subcontractors meet project specifications, contractual requirements, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and verify the implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for mechanical works, including structural assemblies and equipment installations
Conduct regular on-site inspections of mechanical activities such as structural erection, bolting and torqueing, equipment installation, and protection of completed works
Ensure that all installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines
Confirm correct use of tools, materials, and installation techniques, including calibrated torque equipment and appropriate fastening methods
Review quality documentation, checklists, and completion records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability
Identify defects, track non-conformances, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified prior to sign-off
Work closely with electrical and civil quality teams, as well as the Construction Manager, to manage interface coordination and maintain overall project quality
Support commissioning readiness by ensuring all mechanical works meet required standards prior to handover
Requirements:
National Diploma or BTech in Mechanical Engineering (or higher)
2–4 years’ experience in mechanical installation or construction environments
Exposure to structural assembly, bolting and torqueing practices
Basic understanding of QA/QC processes and site quality control procedures
Experience within industrial, mining, or construction sectors will be advantageous
