Quantity Surveyor (Intermediate)

• Our client, a global mining company based in Melrose Arch, is seeking an experienced Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their Johannesburg-based team.

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-6 Years Site experience.
• Intermediate-level Quantity Surveying experience within mining, industrial, engineering, or construction environments.
• Excellent working knowledge of Candy (CCS) is essential.
• Proven experience compiling detailed BOQs and performing accurate Material Take-Offs.
• Strong understanding of estimating methodologies, productivity rates, and resource planning.
• Ability to estimate complete project costs, including labour, equipment, materials, and indirect costs.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
• Compile comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs) with a high level of detail and accuracy.
• Perform Material Take-Offs (MTOs) from engineering drawings and project documentation.

Estimate and quantify all project-related costs, including:

• Materials
• Labour and man-hours
• Plant and equipment
• Subcontractor costs
• Temporary works
• Logistics and transport
• Site establishment and indirect costs
• Develop and maintain project cost models and estimate databases.
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to identify cost implications and potential risks.
• Support tendering, procurement, and project controls activities as required.
• Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams to ensure cost accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
