Responsible for in shop disassembly, inspection, refurbishment, reassembly and testing of various NOV Rig Technologies equipment. Typical Assemblies: Top drives, roughnecks, pipe racking systems, Blow Out Preventors and sub-components.
Mechanical: Knowledge of – bearings, gearboxes / transmissions, seal arrangements; Able to interpret part drawings and complex assembly drawings; set-up and run Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) independently.
Hydraulics/Pneumatics: Knowledge of - pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, cylinders, etc; Able to interpret complex schematics; Effective assembly of hydraulic components; Troubleshooting/Fault finding of hydraulic/pneumatic systems; Perform high (>20 000 PSI) and low-pressure testing with charts
Have a basic understanding of electrical systems as assemblies typically contains all 3 disciplines – Mechanical; Hydraulics/Pneumatics; Electrical
Read, interpret, and follow specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately disassemble/assemble equipment and products.
Ensure all job-related QA Plans, Work scopes, Route Cards, Inspection Reports, Test Reports and Build sheets are filled out as the job progresses.
Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
National Diploma (N6 minimum) in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical) with a minimum of 3 years’ Mechanical experience.
Relevant trade (Fitter) with a minimum of 6 years’ Mechanical experience.
Essential experience includes dismantling and inspection of various valves, pumps, etc.
Essential hydraulic installation and troubleshooting experience including reading of complex hydraulic schematic diagrams.
Working knowledge within an oil & gas, heavy plant, factory machinery or mechanical aerospace environment.
Exposure to and an understanding of Machining, Welding and Production related processes beneficial.
