Research Laboratory Technician (Durban) at Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI)

Overview of Duties

• Conducting GeoMx experiments for collaborative projects.
• Assist with organizing annual training workshops.
• Maintain inventory for all equipment and supplies for the CESORA and be responsible for the GeoMx equipment maintenance.
• Communicating with collaborators regarding their studies.
• Maintaining research records of study activities, including samples and all study related data.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• BSc (Honours) degree in a Biomedical field or related qualification.

Minimum Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a research environment.
• Experience in tissue biology/histology.
• Experience in RNA extraction.
• Experience in next generation sequencing will be an advantage.
• Experience in ordering of reagents and inventory keeping will be an advantage.

Skills Required

• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Accuracy and precision.
• High computer literacy.
• Report writing.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
