Risk and Compliance Monitoring Officer at Mama Money

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As the Compliance and Risk Monitoring Officer, you will be filling the first role of this kind at Mama Money and as such will be responsible for ensuring there is a continual drive for enhanced efficiency and customer experience in all Risk and Compliance processes to most effectively adhere to our risk appetite.

Your responsibilities will be varied and will include:

• Review of the compliance risk management control environment across various departments by ensuring engagement and collaboration with risk owners to minimize business area impact.
• Managing the risk register to ensure controls are in place and reviewing the effectiveness of the controls.
• Providing regular reports to Group Head of Compliance, management, boards and other relevant bodies detailing any current issues or information as required.
• Supporting Compliance controls reviews in any other part of the business.
• Tracking and maintaining monitoring.
• Managing reporting/remediation of findings to Group Head of Compliance, where applicable.
• Reviewing business activities to determine compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Ensuring senior management remains informed of regulatory, legislative, and best practice changes and their obligations under these changes and how they impact the company.
• Sharing detailed findings with management, and provide appropriate recommendations for management actions.
• Following up on recommended corrective actions, any outstanding monitoring issues and management actions and prepare of follow-up progress reports.
• Building and documenting function and technical compliance/regulatory understanding for relevant business applications in support of key business processes.
• Contributing to the enhancement of the specialised monitoring Business Compliance Officer methodology and tools.
• Coordinating with the AML and Fraud team to support, educate and train Mama Money HQ team members and our Agent network.
• Working closely with key stakeholders to manage the successful delivery of risk, compliance and Group projects as assigned.
• Managing and reporting on Client Due diligence for FIC.
• Supporting and championing the company's vision and encouraging focus on process and innovation with the team and the wider organisation.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD HAVE

• Minimum Qualification Diploma in Legal/Internal Auditing
• Preferred Qualification BCom with Auditing Experience/ Postgraduate Diploma in Risk & Compliance management
• Minimum 2-3 years' compliance monitoring experience in a financial services environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to solve complex problems for internal customers
• The ability to build successful relationships and work collaboratively across departmental teams.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced, proactive and delivery-focused environment.
