SAP Basis Administrator

The Biovac Institute requires a SAP Basis Administrator to manage the SAP environment at Biovac both from a technical and functional perspective. The successful incumbent will report to the Senior Applications Database Administrator.

The Key Performance Areas for this position include:

• Implementing, configuring, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting the SAP technical environment
• Scheduling and executing the SAP transport system.
• Responsible for the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of SAP systems.
• Creation and/or Redesign of existing operation concepts in the SAP Development/Quality/Productive environment
• Evaluation of new technologies/software to improve automation
• Contribute and conclude Root Cause Analysis.
• Assist with queries regarding functional capability and processes within the system
• Coordination with other support functions and team to resolve issues in a timeous manner.
• Technical lead for migrating the SAP S4 Hana system to the cloud

Duties

SAP and OS Administration Operations

SAP ERP FOUNDATION SKILLS:

• Starting / Stopping SAP instance
• Print management
• SAP Security operations
• Monitoring the SAP system for health and performance issues
• System Landscape Configurations and Operations
• Batch jobs creation, controlling and all management operations
• User Administrations and Authorizations
• Assist with backup operations for SAP system
• Request and Transport Management Systems
• Assist with SAP Kernel Upgrades
• Implementing SAP OSS Notes
• Applying SAP Add-Ons and Support Packages
• OS Space and Disk management
• OS level Backup & Recovery Operations
• OS level Security and Patch Monitoring and Management

Database Administration

• Database Management on SAP Hana 2.0
• SQL Database Administration and extracts
• Database Patch and Version Management
• Database Tablespace and Index Operations
• Ensure Data Integrity

Technical Competencies required to perform this aspect of the role:

• Core Technical Delivery – SAP Foundation
• HANA Database Knowledge
• SAP MM, Procurement and SCL knowledge
• Technical writing
• Understanding of SaaS, SAP Azure and cloud offerings
• Experience with Prince or another project methodology

Knowledge & Experience

• Liaison with implementation partner to deliver the right solutions
• Previous Pharmaceutical and Validation experience will be an advantage
• Handling SAP related queries on a helpdesk in a structured environment
• Understanding financial\business impact of SAP issues
• Understand SAP MM, Procurement and SCL functions and able to assist users with queries
• Able to interpret SU53 reports and advise on corrective action(s)

Required:

• SAP Basis administration
• SAP Netweaver technology
• HANA DB administration
• Knowledge of SAP MM modules

Preferred:

• SAP Azure experience will be beneficial
• Database Administration skills will be beneficial (SQL, Oracle, DB2)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science or Relevant Industry Qualifications
• SAP Basis Certification
