You will:

• Receive and process genetic specimens accurately and efficiently to ensure the timely delivery of reliable laboratory results.
• Support assay development and evaluation by assisting with the validation, optimisation, and implementation of genetic testing methodologies.
• Maintain accreditation and quality standards by performing quality control procedures, ensuring compliance with laboratory regulations and best practices.
• Contribute to talent development by assisting in the training and mentoring of learner scientists, helping to build future laboratory expertise.
• Build strong client relationships through professional communication and service excellence, promoting Ampath's reputation as a trusted healthcare partner.

What you'll bring

Qualifications

• B.Sc. Honours Degree  or Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
• HPCSA registration as a Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences (BHSc MLS) in Cytogenetics.
• HPCSA registration as a Medical Scientist IN Huma Genetics/Genetics/Molecular Biology.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Molecular Genetics and/or Human Genetics laboratory environment.

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to use computer technology and laboratory systems effectively.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English and Afrikaans.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
• Ability to perform basic numerical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when analysing laboratory data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
