Section Manager - Booysendal at Northam Platinum

Qualifications

• National Higher Diploma / BSc / B Tech in Mining Engineering
• Mine Manager’s certificate of competence

Experience

• At least five (5) years’ management experience
• A proven track record of solid production performance at Mine Overseer or Section Manager level
• Evidence of solid Safety Achievements at Mine Overseer or Section Manager level will be an advantage
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
• Extensive Quality and Risk Management experience
• Knowledge of Trackless Mining Operations

Key performance areas

• Ensuring that the section complies with all Health and Safety requirements stipulated in the Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Control mining operations within the designated section and provide input into mine planning.
• Coordinate service functions to align with production strategies and plans.
• Conduct inspections of mining activities, machinery, and equipment, recording findings and taking action.
• Continuously evaluate work performance and ensure workers' competence.
• Ensure quality-driven work outputs and compliance with rules and regulations.
• Conduct legal inspections and ensure compliance with recording requirements.
• Optimise production through effective resource utilization, motivation, and personnel development.
• Implement mining best practices and effective use of production systems.
• Maintain good employee and production team relations, addressing issues promptly and encouraging improvements.
• Support overall operational management, focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost control.
• Coordinate and manage section risk assessments and logistics, ensuring effective resource administration.
