Senior Accountant

Are you an ambitious, self-motivating individual with a detailed orientated mindset and an anything-is-possible attitude? Then you may be just what we are looking for as an Accountant for H&M South Africa.

As Senior Accountant, you are responsible for supporting the H&M’s Sales & Profit goals by ensuring the accounting records are correct and updated according to H&M’s group rules and local regulations. 

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Focus on the processing of specific journals following reconciliations of:
• Fixed assets and assets under construction;
• Stock accounts, stock provisions & sales provision returns accounts;
• Intercompany transactions and intercompany payments
• Rental payments & accruals and other general ledger reconciliations.
• Preparation of monthly VAT returns, provisional tax, and annual income tax submission with SARS
• Timely follow and investigation of ALL reconciliations differences,
• Review invoice processing and supplier payments,
• Month-end & year-end close activities, including keeping accounting records up to date according to local laws and group policies,
• Review of annual financial statements and analysis of management accounts

Qualifications

We believe that you have the following qualifications,

• 3+ years’ experience in accounting, ideally in the retail sector
• Experience with VAT  & income tax reconciliations with the high volume of transactions is an advantage,
• Experience with SAP is preferable,
• Degree in Accounting,
• Completed SAICA articles is preferable;
• Ability to work independently, take your own initiative, be passionate about finding more efficient ways of doing things and improving internal controls.
• VAT, Tax Knowledge of South Africa and other Southern African countries is meriting.
• Knowledge in the latest accounting standards (IFRS).
