Senior Associate - TMT at Bowmans (Law Firm)

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Admitted attorney with 3 - 6 years post admission experience with specific experience in administrative law matters and/or specific regulated sectors or areas (such as telecommunications and media, data protection, cybersecurity, e-commerce)
• LLB degree with a solid academic transcript
• Strong working knowledge of some or all of the following legislation is advantageous:
• Electronic Communications Act 36 of 2005
• Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013
• Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act 53 of 2003
• Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008
• Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Providing advice on regulated industries and areas such as telecommunications and broadcasting, data protection, consumer goods, e-commerce, and Black economic empowerment.
• Providing advice on administrative law matters.
• Drafting and reviewing legal documentation, including agreements and court papers, in the context of the regulatory requirements applicable to regulated sectors.
• Conducting due diligence reviews.
• Attending to research, supporting senior lawyers on larger matters.

COMPETENCIES

• Legal technical ability:
• Excellent drafting skills, specifically in the drafting of written advice and reports.
• Familiarity with statutory interpretation and general principles of administrative law.
