Senior Data Lead at Exxaro Resources

Position Overview

• As the Senior Data Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Exxaro’s data is managed in accordance with specified governance requirements while driving high-quality, accurate, and reliable data processes across the company. You will work closely with business stakeholders and the IM team to design and implement scalable solutions that empower data-driven decisions and enhance organizational performance.

Minimum Requirements    
QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSc Engineering (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum or)
• BEng Computer Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
• BSc Computer Science (Essential/Minimum or)
• BEng Engineering (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum or)
• B Degree (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE: 

•  5-7 years Relevant experience within a heavy industry, mining, production environment. Knowledge of development processes.
• With proven technical aptitude in one or more application programming domain. Ability to work in Agile and non-Agile environments. With a minimum of 5-8 years’ experience of which 3 years operational mining/plant exposure and 2+ years data exposure supporting production in using data to empower better decision making, through reporting, analyses and models. (Essential/Minimum) Management

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Certificate in SQL Database Coding (Recommended/Desirable) 
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Competence: MS Office Relevant Package (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence: Discipline Specific Program (Recommended/Desirable)

Duties & Responsibilities    

• To ensure data is managed according to IM specified data governance requirements at all levels within Exxaro. 
• Utilize your expertise in all data platforms to ensure efficient data flow and transformation organisation wide. 
• Play a key role in driving scalability and performance improvements within our data infrastructure.
• Ensure highest data quality assurance, data accuracy and data completeness across the organisation. 
• Conduct data design, metadata and repository creation tasks as required by business stakeholder. 
• Translates business needs to be considered to influence long-term architecture solutions in collaboration with IM. 
• Define, design and build organisation dimensional databases with specific reference to functionally agreed formulas and ratios.
• Design the organisation extract, transfer and load (ETL) pipelines and enhance and maintain our existing Exxaro ETL frameworks.
• Implement the organisation ETL pipeline in a timely manner. 
• Collaborate with IM to build data quality metrics and conduct data validation testing.
• Conduct training and upskilling on new reports and or self-service analytics.
