RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure all SQL Server instances are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and perform regular restore testing.
• Ensure maximum uptime on SQL Server instances and ensure recovery times meet business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
• Perform regular patching on SQL Server instances to ensure the latest bug fixes are applied.
• Design and apply database maintenance plans that meet business requirements and improve performance of the production SQL Server databases, as well as investigate performance issues as they occur.
• Install and configure new and replacement SQL Servers according to best practice recommendations and settings. 
• Communicate with 3rd party service providers to ensure resource capability and business continuity.
• Projects requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with the technology team.
• Consults with and advises internal users of the various databases.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree and/or Diploma in IT
• 7+ years of experience in the DBA space
• Microsoft SQL
• Retail experience would be highly advantageous
