Senior Environmental Consultant at SRK Consulting

Job Purpose:

The candidate will provide support and leadership in the field of environmental assessment, sustainable development, strategic environmental planning and a range of other environmental management fields.

Core Functions:

• Manage EIA projects.
• Compile proposals and reports.
• Coordinate project schedules.
• Manage budgets.
• Appoint and manage specialists.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement.
• Develop and sustain new business and client relationships.
• Mentor junior colleagues. 

Competencies:

• Excellent knowledge and application of environmental legislation.
• Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment.
• Self starter and committed team player.
• Excellent reporting and presentation skills – additional languages would be advantageous.
• Analytical and integrative skills across diverse disciplines and sectors.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Environmental Management (Honours) or higher / other relevant degree.
• Registered EAP or Pr.Sci.Nat.
• Approximately 10 years’ experience.
• Valid driver’s license and own transport.
• Willingness to travel within and outside South Africa.
• The candidate should have experience in managing ESIAs in South Africa and elsewhere. Experience in an allied specialist sub-discipline (e.g. biodiversity, socio-economic assessment, air quality, climate change) will be an advantage.
