Senior / Head Chemist - Chemical/Fertilizer Department - Delmas at Prostaff Holdings (Pty) Ltd

• A multinational agricultural manufacturing and distribution company requires the above to head up and manage a team of chemists responsible for chemical formulation, method development, new product development etc within the liquid fertilizer and related markets.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• A tertiary qualification in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry or Plant Science or related is essential.
• Experience working as a Senior or Head Chemist is essential.
• Previous experience working within the agricultural industry is preferred.
• Previous trial management experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Computer literacy is essential with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing and retaining the quality of their liquid amino acid chelated nutrients range, specialized bio stimulants, adjuvants, insecticide, fungicides, PGR products and SAR products and new technologies.
• Reviewing and updating all standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
• Creating PowerPoint presentations and presenting fact sheets of technical data for the product and technical details of products to senior management, marketing, sales and technical teams.
• Working closely with Agronomists to place products into the programs in order to solve field problems.
• Training internal sale, technical and marketing team and dealers on products and services.
• Managing staff to ensure their performance is met in the company.
• Presenting to Directors regarding the progress of research and development within your department.  
• Assisting and working closely with the registration of products both locally and internationally.
• Ensuring the laboratory has its ISO accreditation.
• Travel internationally and nationally when required to do so.
• Developing new formulations and improving existing formulations as well as assisting with process improvement.
