Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Social Work at University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
• Supervise Master’s and doctoral students;
• Conduct research and publish articles in accredited (and preferably high-impact) journals;
• Participate in curriculum development of undergraduate and postgraduate modules as required;
• Present research at local and international conferences;
• Participate in generating third-stream income for the department;
• Conduct academic administration and other duties, as determined by the Head of Department;
• Participate in the Department’s strategic initiatives relating to teaching, research, and community engagement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• A doctoral degree in Social Work;
• Teaching  experience (undergraduate  and  postgraduate level)  appropriate to  the appointed position;
• Supervision experience of Master’s students;
• A proven research and publication record of accomplishment in specialised field, appropriate to the post level;
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

• Practice experience in social work management and supervision;
• Teaching and practice experience of social work with groups;
• An NRF rating (for Associate Professor);
• Evidence of national team research engagement.
