    Senior Product Innovation Associate - (Olifantsfontein)

    Overview

    This position is for a senior product innovation associate in Kemin Industries’ Process Innovation team (chiefly chemistry). The primary responsibility is assisting in projects surrounding method development, formulation, product development and product innovation. You take on the duty of timely providing high quality experimental data.

    Responsibilities

    General

    • Computer literate, ability to make efficient use of spread sheets, text editors and presentation software (eg Microsoft office.
    • Understanding of and adherence to quality systems (ISO 9001), 5S principles, and Good Laboratory Practice requirements, understanding and strictly following SOP’s and analytical.
    • Understanding the function of the instrumentation used to obtain reliable and reproducible results and being able to identify, trouble shoot and report inconsistent instrument.
    • Sound report writing in the event of an investigation.
    • Understand, read, and record instrument data; analyse and tabulate data; keep detailed laboratory
    • Time management to ensure project milestones are adhered to.
    • Assist in the validation of the existing portfolio of all current methods of analyses according to SANAS 17025.
    • Waste management for the areas responsible for.
    • As part of the larger innovation team, being able to perform back-up lab.     

    For Product Innovation

    • Understand the principles behind the instrumentation used in the lab: in particular chromatographic separation (eg. LC, GC), spectrometry (UV-VIS, FLD, FT-NIRS, MS), titration, densitrometry.
    • New product development initiated by and in collaboration with the product innovation expert. This would entail creation of regular project update reports, reporting, discussing and presenting results of experiments conducted as required.
    • Execution and/or analyses of all stability study related.
    • Assist in the development of novel/efficient methods of
    • Training and project support for the service innovation
    • Help with problem solving (customer complaints, operational challenges).
    • Keep abreast of technological advances in the field.
    • Ability to perform basic math calculations including arithmetic, calculus, and statistical data analyses (Regression, (Z)score, t-student).
    • Ability to deliver results in a scientific sound manner.

    Qualifications

    • Tech in Chemistry (or equal by professional development) and with 3 years of laboratory experience.
    • Experience with instruments.
    • Very hands on and excellent organizational.
    • Meticulous.
    • Flexible, diligent and a good team player with self-motivation.
    • Well-developed oral and written skills. 
    • Able to manage time and tasks allowing concurrent and/ or overlapping tasks to be done.
    • A good and open communicator.
    • Team player.
