    Senior Researcher (Pretoria, Cape Town or Durban)

    Key Requirements: Researcher

    • A Master’s degree in Economics or in a related social sciences field (substantial progress on a PhD in Economics will be distinct advantage);
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
    • Appropriate quantitative analytical skills;
    • Competence in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Statistical software;
    • A sound academic record;
    • Willingness to learn through hands on engagement in a variety of research projects;
    • Intellectual and personal integrity, a well-developed work ethic, and drive;

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities for these key research positions

    • Work with a professional research team on all aspects of policy orientated research, including conceptualisation, data collection and analysis, and participation in dissemination of findings;
    • Assist with the submission of research proposals for ethical review;
    • Conduct and organise literature reviews and other secondary data searches;
    • Undertake qualitative and quantitative fieldwork;
    • Conduct descriptive and inferential analysis of quantitative data;
    • Assist with project management tasks in the research environment;
    • Contribute to the preparation of peer reviewed academic journal articles, research reports, study protocols, presentations, manuscripts and research grant proposals; and
    • Participate in structured research trainee mentoring and capacity development activities.
