Senior Specialist: Model Validation at Capitec Bank

Purpose Statement

To assist in the management of model risk on all models within the bank by:

• Performing model reviews
• Ensuring appropriate model governance and model risk management processes and standards are in place
• Reporting on and escalating areas of model risk.

Experience

Minimum:

• 5+ years' relevant experience in statistical analysis

Experience to include the following:

• Data mining and predictive modelling
• Model review and validation
• Retail credit models experience
• Experience in a wide range of model types.

Ideal:

• Model governance, model risk management and model risk aggregation experience.

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or Statistics

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• Honours Degree in Mathematics or Statistics

Knowledge
Knowledge of:

• Analytics
• Statistical and predictive methodologies
• Table and database structures
• Statistical software (e.g. SAS, R, Python)
• Database querying (e.g. SQL)
• Technical understanding and knowledge of different operating systems / databases / programming languages
• Model risk management and model governance.
