Senior Specialist Supply Chain and Procurement Assurance at South African Airways (SAA)

Job Purpose    

• The Senior Specialist: Senior Specialist Supply Chain and Procurement Assurance is responsible for leading and driving the Supply Chian and Procurement Assurance portfolio within the Internal Audit Department, including the development and execution of the three-year internal audit plan, in accordance with Internal Audit Standards and the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) in order to provide assurance on the status of internal controls across the south African Airways Group and related subsidiaries.

Principal Accountabilities    

• Influence the Internal Audit Strategy through the interpretation of the organization's strategy and risks ensuring alignment to organizational goals, stakeholder expectations, and industry standards and best practice
• Develop and implement the Internal Audit three-year rolling risk based Internal Audit Plan, via the provision of assurance and advisory services to the SAA group
• Lead the delivery assurance and advisory engagements in line with SCM and company policies, PFMA and Treasury Regulations, and Internal Audit methodologies
• Identify and manage relationships with key stakeholders including internal to the internal audit function and those within business at a process level and executive committee level
• Implement the Internal Audit Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme so as to ensure compliance with Internal Audit standards and best practices, enhancing the function’s efficacy whilst driving continuous improvement
• Drive and embed the use of next generation Audit Tools, Methodologies and Techniques to enhance risk and assurance coverage contributing to improved audit outcomes and insights as well as driving efficiencies within the internal audit processes
• Present and report Internal Audit outcomes and progress at various governance forums, including SCM oversight forums, Executive Committees and Audit Committees
• People Management including recruiting, development, retention and performance management of team members
• Contract and account management of Internal Audit Service Providers including performance management at an engagement, portfolio and account level

Qualifications & Experience    

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain & Logistics/ Procurement/ Legal or Commercial Law/ Internal Audit/ Finance/ Commerce or other relevant to the audit profession
• Postgraduate Diploma or Honors degree in Accounting/ Auditing/ Finance/ Governance
• Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional (MCIPS)/ Chartered Accountant (CA (SA))/ Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)/ Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA)/ Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent will be an advantage
• Minimum 6 – 8 years’ experience in a Senior Management role of which at least 5 years in the Internal Audit environment
• Work experience in a large organisation coupled with experience leading large or multiple teams
• Knowledge of PFMA and National Treasury and other regulations
• Public Sector assurance in the procurement and SCM environment and SCM Governance experience in the transport/logistics industry will be an advantage.
