Senior Upholsterer at Weylandts Furniture Cape Town (Pty) Ltd

Job Purpose:

• We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Upholsterer to join our team and bring our furniture to life. This is a hands-on role with a leadership edge – you’ll craft, repair, and restore upholstered pieces to the highest standard, while mentoring junior team members and ensuring every piece meets our signature quality.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead the repair, restoration, and assembly of upholstered furniture.
• Work with fabrics, padding, and trimmings for durability, comfort, and style.
• Train and guide junior upholsterers.
• Ensure that instructions provided by the Supervisor are relayed and carried out by your respective team(s).
• Motivate your team members to uphold the required level of production.
• Compare the quality of the work performed by your team against the job sheet (Right first-time principle).
• Maintain discipline and work ethics within the team.

Skills Required:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• 8–10 years of upholstery experience, ideally in a senior role.
• Good knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Must be able to read technical drawings and job sheets.
• Must be able to check quantity and quality of jobs before leaving workstation.
• Proficient in sewing, webbing, padding, and fabric installation.
• Strong eye for detail, precision, and craftsmanship.
• Leadership and mentoring experience are advantageous.
