Sessional Medical Specialist (Transplant Surgery )
MBChB Degree or equivalent qualifications. Current registration with HealthProfessions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Surgery. Registration certificate with the (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Surgery.
Grade 1: No experience required. The appointment to Grade 1 requires appropriate qualification plus registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Specialist Surgery.
Grade 2: Requires appropriate qualification, registration certificate plus 5 years’ or more experience after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as Specialist Surgery.
Grade 3: requires appropriate qualification, registration certificate plus 10 years’ or more experience after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Specialist Surgery.
DUTIES :
Assist the head of clinical unit with management of Renal transplantprogramme for the province. Provide access to surgical services to patients on the transplant programme. Conducting of clinics, operating theatre, angiosuite lists and consultations with other disciplines. Drawing up of protocols for patient perioperative patient management. Conducting and supervising relevant research. Performing regular audits of the departmental activities. Liaising with the hospital management and other agencies to ensure the efficient provision of clinical services at IALCH. Providing consultative/support services to peripheral institutions as part of the department’s outreach program. Afterhours cover is mandatory to assist in the running of a successful transplant unit.
