Software Developer at Thales

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contributes to software architectural design on a project
• Refinement of component requirements
• Perform Software Development: Design, develop, integrate and test software CSCIs
• Integrates software components in a logical and controlled manner to evaluate design, behaviour, interactions and performance. Confirms that requirements against which software components have been designed are fulfilled
• Performs CSCI Integration and verification
• Produces software data-package for release to solution
• Ensures configuration management of Software Components and Solution
• Contributes to the change management process for software solutions
• Provides inputs for the budgeting of the software development activities for new opportunities during the proposal phase
• Participate in software acceptance activities for the various programmes. These include but are not limited to Factory acceptance, Site or Sea Acceptance and participation in Operational Test and Evaluations where applicable
• Adhere to the relevant TSAS processes
• Participate in software reviews, audits and code reviews, as required
• Identifies technical and financial risks and exposures and participates in problem-solving and mitigation strategies
• Comply with section 14 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations (85 of 1993).
• Adhere to HSE & Security governance policies and procedures.
• Adhere to all other TSAS applicable policies and procedures.

Position Requirement:

• Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent qualification or significant and proven expertise and experience in software development
• 3+ years’ experience in software development
• Experience with Software development on a mobile platform
• Experience in software development documentation at all levels
• Experience in the use of Software development tools and processes
• Knowledge of Software Development Processes and Tailoring
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Maintains strong domain knowledge through regular reading and where applicable participating in the activities of professional bodies and attendance at appropriate conventions and other gatherings.
• In-depth knowledge of programming languages and methodologies.
• Extensive Software/Process/ Software Development Lifecycle knowledge
