    Staff Nurse

    REQUIREMENTS :

    • Grade 1: Experience: None Grade 2: Experience: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the SANC.
    • Grad 3: Experience: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the SANC.
    • Matric Certificate or Grade 12 (Senior Certificate).
    • 2 years Staff Nurse Certificate that allows registration with South African Nursing Council.
    • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC 2026) as a Staff Nurse.

    Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies Required:

    • Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal frameworks such as: Nursing Act; Health Act; Occupational Health and Safety Act; Patients Right Charter; Batho Pele principles; Public Service Regulations; Labour Relations Act; Disciplinary Code and Procedure.
    • Grievance Procedure, etc.
    • Basic communication skills Basic writing skills Ability to function part of a team Basic interpersonal skills.
    • Elementary facilitation skills.

    DUTIES :

    • Provide safe, Compassionate and quality nursing care monitor patients’ health status and report changes promptly assist with activities of daily living where required Administer medication within scope of practice Monitor side effects and document medication given accurately.
    • Adhere to infection policies and standard precautions.
    • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
    • Keep accurate, complete, and timely patient records.
    • Document nursing interventions and patient responses.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary health care team.
    • Participate in handovers and team meetings.
    • Identity and risks, incidents and adverse events.
    • Follow safety protocols and contribute to qualify improvement initiatives.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical standards.
    • Demonstrate professionalism, Punctuality and Accountability.
    • Attend training sessions and in-service training.
