Studio Technician at eMedia Investments

KEY EXPECTATIONS AND DELIVERABLES OF THE ROLE

• The individual in this role is required to provide first line support in a virtual production and traditional production environment to film shoots, live productions, post-production and events held in the studio facility.
• The individual will perform systems checks, ensure facility readiness for productions, report on system and equipment status while escalating internally and externally functions that require specialised intervention. Will be involved in new system deployments, maintenance scheduling, execution and reporting.

Key Deliverables Deliverables Specific Tasks and Outcomes
Technical support

• Respond to technical issues reported by phone or by email
• Assist workshop walk-in technical support requests
• Ensure system readiness for studio shoots
• Ensure studio lights are operational
• Assist with pantographs repairs and other RF studio gear

Troubleshooting and repairs

• Tests functionality of video, audio and control cables and repair where necessary.
• Terminate cables with the correct connectors to the highest standard
• Prepare studio systems for production
• Bench test studio equipment for functionality
• Perform repairs to studio equipment at board level (including soldering)
• Check network device status and any network traffic issues

Installation and maintenance

• Install new equipment in server racks and technical furniture (Commissioning)
• Remove old equipment from racks and technical furniture

Escalation

• Escalate technical issues to experienced engineers for assistance to resolution
• Escalate reported technical issues to the manager for notification and information sharing
• Liaise with suppliers and OEMs locally and internationally to assist in resolving technical problems

Report Writing

• Write shift report and at the end of the shift outlining the reported incidents, steps taken to resolve and incident status
• Provide equipment fault reports after diagnostics to issue to suppliers and OEMs for repairs
• Share assigned tasks system status

Documentation

• Keep record of findings during the troubleshooting process
• Read and interpret system drawings for troubleshooting and workflow understanding
• Update systems and workflow changes on the system drawings

Requirements

• A National Diploma in Engineering and/or Computer Systems
• A+, N+ - Recommended
• A minimum of 1 years' experience in Broadcasting Engineering
