Superintendent Production Logistics CH - South32, Richards Bay at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

The purpose of the role is to manage the inbound major raw material logistics of Hillside and to manage the logistics section in order to produce cost-effective high-quality aluminium, without sacrificing safety or plant integrity.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree / BTECH / National Diploma in a technical field with minimum of 5 years’ experience, of which at least 2 years in a supervisory role in a heavy industrial environment is required;
• Experience in Logistics / Shipping will be advantageous;
• Knowledge of international shipping laws and logistics will be advantageous.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Interface with Marketing to establish, implement and manage yearly shipping schedule in line with strategic stock holding policies;
• Manage site raw material reconciliation process;
• Accountable to resolve of any raw material issues between Marketing, Hillside and Mozal Aluminium;
• Lead the team to operate and improve the production or logistics processes and equipment safely and in accordance with the schedule (production or logistics), process specifications and the operation’s technical standards;
• Drive initiatives to improve work practices, procedures and critical controls for material risks;
• Monitor compliance to required controls, procedures and applicable legislation;
• Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal and external relationships and implement remedial actions were required to ensure achievement of organisational goals;
• Provide relevant and specialised technical support, where required, to peers and colleagues to ensure the achievement of objectives;
• Promote establishing active, informative relations with internal and external stakeholders;
• Facilitate solutions for unresolved disputes;
• Act as representative of the organisation at stakeholder forums;
• Manage expectations within mandate and protocol.
