Tax Compliance Officer

• We are currently recruiting for a cheerful and independent Tax Compliance Officer to join a leading Audit firm based in Claremont, Cape Town. The successful candidate should come with 4 years’ experience in a similar role.

Minimum Requirements

• Essential: Matric.
• Essential: Bcom Degree specializing in Tax.
• Beneficial: Tax Honours Degree
• Essential: Completed SAIT articles
• Essential: Minimum of 4 years’ experience.
• Knowledge of Efiling and Easyfile.
• Essential: Valid Driver’s License and Own Vehicle.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Providing assistance to the Tax Manager with overall control and systems in the Tax department.
• Registration of individuals, companies, payroll tax(PAYE), trusts for income tax, value-added tax(VAT), or customs duty.
• Supporting tax trainees with competencies as required by the prescribed training program of the South African Institution of Taxation.
• Completion and submission of provisional tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts.
• Support tax trainees with on-the-job training.
• Attending with SARS reviews and audits on income tax returns for all taxpayer types.
• Training the tax department with regards to aspects of e-filing and general tax compliance matter.
• Completion and submissions of objections and appeals against SARS assessments.
• Tax administration – checking on SARS correspondence daily.
• Liaising with SARS officials/staff to resolve queries.
• Calculation and submission on EMP201 and EMP501 return for empoyers.
• Arrangement of payments via e-filing.
