TAX SPECIALIST – Property Industry

R500 – 600 000 per annum (Depending on experience)

Our awesome Commercial Property Developer client is looking for a Tax Specialist to join their financial team. This is a specialist tax role NOT an accounting role! Handling all the difficult queries regarding assessments, queries, refunds etc with SARS and not just VAT computation and submission.

Desired experience & qualifications:
• Minimum B Com Accounting degree or equivalent
• Engagement with SARS regarding assessments, VAT refunds, solving of queries (have solid experience and know who to contact)
• Solid VAT and Income Tax experience
• Experience working in the property industry would be advantageous
• MDA Property Management software experience beneficial
• Understanding of VAT apportionment ratios and their application
• Be able to work on your own, and remotely

Main responsibilities:
• Monthly VAT201 submissions and VAT reviews
• Liaising with SARS on any assessments
• Liaising with SARS on VAT refunds
• Ensuring VAT compliance and identifying risks
• Preparation of annual audit VAT recons
• Liaising with projects team on VAT inputs on mixed-use developments
• Provisional tax calculations and SARS submissions
• Group tax forecasting and planning
• Preparation of taxation related reports for Exco and Board
