    Teach the Nation HOD Leadership Development Scholarship

    About us :

    Teach The Nation (TTN) recruits a network of exceptional leaders who will work together to change the inequity that characterizes our education system. Our network of leaders becomes a talent pool which will bring great change to their communities and the Greater South African Education space.  Becoming part of our inspiring pool of leaders means that you are recognised as a professional leader with the skills and competencies needed to change students' lives in high-need schools because of your potential to be a change-maker in classrooms and communities. 

    Calling all Heads of Department!

    Teach the Nation invites Head of Department Educators who are permanently employed, to join our leadership development program. The program is fully funded and requires no expense or cost from the successful candidates. We focus on under-resourced schools to bring about educational equity in South Africa. We are partnered with Teach For All and 57 other Educational Organisations worldwide. The Fellowship is a 3 month probation period, followed by a two-year leadership development opportunity for educators, designed to bring positive change in the lives of learners in their schools, whilst developing sought-after leadership skills.

    The Fellowship Program Overview:

    • 2x 30-minute virtual coaching sessions per month suitable according to your schedule
    • 1x Professional Peer Learning Community (PPLC) contact session per term (1x Saturday)
    • Attend our Summer Institute in the June school holidays

    Please note this program does not require any examinations but does require commitment, participation and completion of the skills development pathways
    You will obtain a Leadership Certificate Accreditation at the end of the 2 years.
    Once complete, you will then be incorporated and interact with our Alumni Program, working with our vast network of teacher leaders from around the world!

    Requirements

    • Between 25 and 40 years of age
    • South African Citizen
    • HOD Experience between 0-3 years
    • Permanently employed HOD in an under-resourced school
    • TEACHING SUBJECTS: STEM, Languages, Creative Arts, Agriculture, Coding, Robotics, Business and Accounting
    • Holds BEd or PGCE qualification
    • Have a passion for influencing school culture, leadership and impacting communities positively
