Technical Accountant at OUTsurance

Job Description
We are looking for a technical accountant who wishes to build a career within the Finance department specialising in short- and long-term insurance.

Responsibilities

• The ideal candidate must have experience in IFRS reporting and a strong IFRS knowledge. The responsibilities of this role will include the following:
• Support and IFRS technical guidance for projects in the Group.
• Ensuring the Group complies and assist with the implementation of new IFRS standards and/or amendments issued that affects the group.
• Review of group financial statements for compliance with IFRS.
• Assist with the implementation of IFRS 17
•  Provide technical guidance for the group on application of IFRS 17
• Assist with, finalising, implementing and testing of the IFRS 17 financial reporting process
• Assist with development and finalisation of IFRS 17 compliant financial statements and management reports
• Responsible for development of communication and training to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaising with internal and external assurance providers to provide assurance on IFRS 17
• Development of communication to relevant internal and external stakeholders, including shareholders and analysts

The candidate will report into the Group Financial Manager.

Qualifications

• CA (SA) with minimum 2 years’ post articles experience in an advisory role.

Experience

• Current and previous experience in the insurance industry and IFRS 17 implementation.
