Role Description

The company is looking for someone with an all-round capability to take the reins of a senior engineering team that consists of both operations and developers, and lead them in terms of technical vision and growth. The Technical Lead is also responsible for leading the company through their go live and onwards to growing the engineering teams, improving the company’s product and improving their technology. The ideal candidate has proven mastery of software engineering and is capable of solving complex business problems with code. As the Technical Lead, you should be able to amplify the impact of this engineering experience with the most valuable asset - your fellow engineering team.

Salary

• R100,000 – R150,000 (negotiable based on experience)

Responsibilities

• Oversight of both the operations and development teams
• Technical planning and execution
• Team management and growth
• Direct report to the company board
• A successful launch, maintenance and enhancement of the core company product

Requirements

• Proven team leader with the ability to describe and execute a clear technical vision
• Deep understanding of Agile and popular frameworks such as Scrum
• Distributed system architecture and design
• Experience solving problems of scale, latency, redundancy and availability
• A DevOps mindset and a familiarity with the tools and processes that facilitate it
• A good understanding of at least one of the big cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• A good understanding of configuration and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack or similar)
• An ability to apply and foster code craftsmanship principles such as Clean Code, Clean Architecture, SOLID, TDD
• Comfortable with technical leadership in a polyglot environment (PHP, JS, JVM/Java/Kotlin)
• Experience in the Sports Betting industry will be a great bonus
