Technical Lead (Finance Tech) - Sandton at Investec

Investec is looking for a Technical Lead to join a team of dynamic individuals in the Finance Tech Team. The successful candidate will be part of a cross-functional team that is responsible for the full software development life cycle from conception, development to deployment of each new product. The candidate will lead a team of Dot Net developers, providing technical guidance, line management, mentorship, and support. They will need experience in defining and driving the technical roadmap, architecture, and design. Fostering a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the development team is necessary in this role.

The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. As the Tech Lead, they will play an integral role in shaping our development methodologies and resources to better serve our clients and meet our business goals. These include extensive coding, operational support, code reviews and driving best practices amongst the developers along with driving DORA metrics for Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). In addition to being a solid developer, the successful candidate will need to be proactively looking for new opportunities to build efficiencies into the organization's technical capabilities and strategies. The candidate will be a player/coach and will be writing code with the team as well. Aligning to our cloud ambitions when developing new solutions.

Experience, skill and capability

• Proven experience (8+ years) as a C# developer with a strong understanding of Dot Net ecosystem
• Previous experience (3+ years) in a technical and line management leadership role
• Experience with Dot Net 6
• Proficiency in database design and SQL
• Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
• Container knowledge (Kubernetes, Docker) and experience in Finance Applications is additionally advantageous
• Adapting interface for modern internet applications using the latest front-end and back-end technologies
• Developing application codes and unit tests in Java, .Net, and Rest Web Services
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
