    Technical Manager

    Description

    • Fresenius Kabi is a global healthcare company more than 40,500 employees worldwide.

    • The manufacturing plant in Port Elizabeth produces both small and large volume parenterals. 
    • The main purpose of the Technical manager is to manage the Technical Services department, such as to develop and implement strategic plans for asset management, do project management, ensure Safety, Health, Environment and Risk Management as well as maintenance of  Utilities and energy usage optimization. 

    General Duties 

    Plant Maintenance

    • Manage and maintain the development of engineering standards for all equipment in the production unit
    • Manage all preventative and corrective maintenance activities in the production unit
    • Conducting engineering equipment and maintenance systems audits for plant equipment on a yearly basis.
    • Management of all Control and Automation activities in the plant
    • Management Occupational Health, Safety, Environment

    Asset Management

    • Developing and implementing strategic plans for asset management, Engineering materials management, technical skills management and structure development
    • Ensuring that all processes and relevant information are incorporated in supporting business applications like the computerised maintenance management systems and logistic stock controlling systems.
    • Appropriate and effective computerisation of engineering and maintenance data that can be used in GMP compliance audits.
    • Asset management policy and procedure development
    • Organizing and conducting asset management workshops for asset management strategy formulation.

    Project Management

    • Managing all CAPEX Projects according to plans from feasibility to implementation and sign-off.

    Others

    • Supply chain relationship management with key suppliers of engineering spares and services throughout South Africa and internationally with cooperation with the head office in France and Germany.
    • Oversee the development, implementation of and the adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in the department
    • Ensure appropriate validation for equipment and processes are performed in the area of responsibility
    • Ensure that adequate maintenance is carried out on all equipment, utilities and the manufacturing areas
    • Support QA in all department-relevant quality investigations, for example product recalls, complaint investigation, deviations, OOS and change controls

    Budget & Cost Control

    • Develop and control the financial budget for the department
    • Control and optimise the cost within the department
    • Set quality and performance KPI’s for the department and monitor the departmental performance on a defined frequency
    • Develop strategic roadmap for the department to meet market and business requirements for the present and future conditions

    People Management

    • Manage all personnel in the department and provide ongoing performance feedback to staff as and when required
    • Ensure that all personnel in the department is developed and trained as required by the various job functions
    • Ensure best working practices within the department
    • Set quality and performance KPI’s for the department and monitor the departmental performance on a defined frequency

    Quality Management

    • Oversee the development, implementation of and the adherence to the Quality Management System for the department
    • Ensure compliance to all QM controlled processes and documents
    • Represent the department during inspections and audit

    Requirements

    • Bachelor or National Diploma in Engineering
    • At least 7 years production experience as Technical manager on Senior Management Level
    • Strong management experience
    • Strong maintenance understanding
    • Can-do attitude
    • Pharmaceutical Industry experience
