    Technical Program Manager

    Description

    • Come join Amazon EC2 in Cape Town - the team behind the most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform in the world. Amazon EC2 started in Cape Town in 2006 as a key AWS service, and now forms a building block for many of the more than 200 services in AWS. We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to join EC2. You will engage on energising and interesting problems, and define and deliver on goals which require changes across many different teams and services. You will need a technical background to understand and critique solutions, spot potential problems, and communicate how a problem will be solved to others. Our team is very data driven so you’ll need to use data and metrics to support your narrative. Amazon Leadership principles guide our great collaborative and innovative culture. We have a flexible approach to solving problems, using agile principals to deliver value quickly but not binding ourselves to prescribed methodologies.

    Work/Life Harmony

    • Our team is Cape Town based, and under normal circumstances, we work from the office. That said, we understand that life is not 9-5pm for everyone and are happy to discuss a flexible working schedule that supports your personal life. From time-to-time, we work with our colleagues across the world meaning we accommodate the different time zones.

    Mentorship & Career Growth

    • Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. We care about your career growth. We try to align projects and tasks based on what will help each team member develop and grow, and enable them to take on more complexity in the future.

    Inclusive Team Culture

    • We believe a diverse group of people with different background and experiences are a catalyst to generating a breadth of ideas, therefore we do all we can to attract and nurture this in our team.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent working experience
    • 5+ years experience leading complex and/or large projects across multiple teams
    • A technical background: you won’t be expected to write any code, but do need experience engaging on the details of the solutions which support the projects/products/services that you have delivered

    Preferred Qualifications
Amazon is an equal opportunities employer, and we value your passion to discover, invent, simplify and build. We welcome applications from all members of society irrespective of age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief. Amazon is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from South African citizens who are members of designated groups who may contribute to Employment Equity within the workplace and the further diversification of ideas. In this regard, the relevant laws and principles associated with Employment Equity will be considered when appointing potential candidates. We are required by law to verify your ability to work lawfully in South Africa. Amazon requires that you submit a copy of either your identity document or your passport and any applicable work permit if you are a foreign national, along with an updated curriculum vitae.
