Purpose: The Technician Foreman is responsible for supervising the repair and servicing of Valves on and Off Site while remaining actively involved in the technical servicing, assembly and repair of valve and fluid control systems. The role combines hands-on technical work while ensuring adherence to schedules, improving planning and execution of valve servicing and assembly jobs.
Minimum Requirements
Matric/ Grade 12 or technical qualification essential
Engineering diploma/certificate (N3 or higher, B-Tech, Millwright)
Artisan qualification or engineering trade qualification advantageous
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing/Production/Water Industry
Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a technical environment
Strong understanding of valve systems and fluid control products (Bermad or similar hydraulic control valves) essential
Experience with servicing and repairing fluid control valves
Valid driver’s licence essential
Prepared to travel to sites and attend call-outs when required
Prepared to work overtime when operational requirements demand
Computer literate with the ability to complete reports and maintain documentation
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise the Fluid Control Valve Technician.
Oversee the servicing and maintenance of valves and control valves.
Oversee the assembly of fluid control related products.
Oversee the purchasing of spares required to carry out the task of servicing and repairing valves.
Provide technical support and product guidance to internal sales teams, representatives, and technicians.
Assist with technical analysis of fluid control products.
Liaise with engineers, construction managers and product specialists regarding fluid control products.
Assist with technical queries relating to product functionality, installation, and servicing.
Provide technical input on product improvements and service procedures.
Carry out quality control checks on serviced and repaired Valves.
Ensure quality checks are conducted on all jobs and projects during and after servicing and/or repair.
Compile and maintain risk assessments related to site activities.
Ensure SHEQ standards and safe working practices are always maintained.
Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained within the department.
Coordinate site work, call-outs and on-site commissioning where required.
Ensure customer deadlines are met to minimise downtime in customer operations.
Address and resolve complaints from internal sales staff, representatives, and product specialists.
Assess staff output through quality control processes on completed projects.
