Technologist/Technician/MLS (Microbiology/Molecular) - Greenacres at Ampath

Purpose of Position:

To process specimens according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the Microbiology Laboratory and to provide training to the employees on all benches.

Requirements:

• HPCSA registration: Independent Practice Microbiology, HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field, National Diploma: Biomedical Technology

Required Experience:

• Experiential training in a training laboratory, Knowledge: Ampath Microbiology document system, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the development and evaluation of new assays when required,
• Perform accreditation and Quality Control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld,
• Perform general tasks in order to ensure that best practice is upheld within the laboratory,
• Perform Materials Management related tasks in order to ensure effective control over stock and to ensure sufficient stock levels at all times,
• Perform receiving and resulting tasks on the Meditech system in order to ensure correct handling, preparing and recording of specimen and results
