    Risk Manager

    Job Description    

    • Responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, opportunities and threats to the achievement of the Africa businesses strategic objectives. within an organisation. They play a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and sustainability of the organisation.
    • Conduct comprehensive risk and opportunity assessments to identify and analyse potential risks related to financial operations, investments, market fluctuations, liquidity, credit, and other exposures.
    • Stay updated with market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes that could impact risk exposure.
    • Create risk heat maps or matrices to categorize and prioritize risks based on likelihood and potential impact.
    • Engage with key stakeholders across departments to gather insights and perspectives on potential risks specific to their areas of operation. 
    • Sound proactive leadership and counsel to the Executive Committee on governance, risk and assurance related matters.
    • To ensure compliance to internal processes and policies, applicable laws and regulations, across the organisation. This role requires a deep understanding of financial markets, instruments, and regulatory requirements to effectively mitigate risks and ensure the financial stability of the organisation.
    • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits related to financial risk management practices and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk-related information to regulatory authorities and stakeholders as required by applicable regulations.
    • Develop and maintain risk dashboards and regular risk reports for senior management and stakeholders, summarizing risk exposure, trends, and mitigation efforts.
    • Develop contingency plans and procedures to address potential financial crises or emergencies.
    • Act decisively during times of financial stress to implement risk mitigation measures and safeguard organizational assets.
    • Establish communication protocols and channels to effectively communicate with stakeholders during crisis situations.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.
    • Advantageous: Professional qualification such as CA (SA), CFA, or equivalent. Risk management qualification and experience advantageous.
    • Minimum of 6 years of experience in finance and risk management.
    • Relevant financial service experience.
    • Relevant exposure to the mining and chemical industries.
    • In depth experience of managing multi-dimensional programmes, deadlines, and large budgets.
    • Engagement with diverse, external international stakeholders in managing legislative risk.
    • Experience in working across a broad spectrum of industries – from white collar to unionised environments.

    Management and Cost Accountant

    Job Description    

    • Assist with AECI Mining Chemicals entity budget process, in conformance with the AECI guidelines and principles
    • Assist with monitoring and controlling expenditure within approved level, ensuring compliance with budgetary control procedures and policies
    • Prepare budget & forecast reports for Plant Operations and monitor performance against budget and lasts view and provide insight into deviations against planned
    • Review accounting statements, expense reports, and standard forms for accuracy, completeness, and conformity to procedures
    • Provide Operations Managers and Head of Finance Mining with timeous and relevant management information
    • Provide guidance and support to business to ensure the accurate asset set up, asset classes, useful lives, depreciation, and disposals in accordance with IFRS and AECI policies
    • Review weekly production order settlements, prepare reports and follow-up significant variances as well as reconciliations
    • Monitor and verify all production and purchase price variances and escalate undesirable effects to the Business Analyst – Operations
    • Ensure adequate internal controls covering financial risk areas and that any inadequacy is brought to the attention of Plant Managers
    • Comply with all legislation relating to accounting matters / monitor compliance related to the Operations plants
    • Assist with the review of audit instructions and compile/prepare supporting documentation for the 

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • B Com degree or equivalent (Must) in Finance / Honours or any related
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Accountant, experience as a costing / manufacturing accountant will be advantageous
    • Advanced knowledge of Finance Systems (SAP, BW, BO, Cognos)
    • Financial policies, procedures, and processes
    • Communication and report writing skills
    • Excellent computer skills – MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Engineering Manager

    Job Description    

    • To lead, plan, and manage the engineering function to ensure that all plant, equipment, and systems are designed, maintained, and operated safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
    • The Engineering Manager is responsible for driving technical excellence, continuous improvement, innovation, and compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company policies.

    Required outputs: functional

    • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & fabrication).
    • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Define clear objectives, priorities, and development plans for team members.
    • Develop and implement the engineering strategy aligned with company goals.
    • Oversee capital projects, equipment upgrades, and plant modifications.
    • Manage engineering budgets (capital and operational expenditure).
    • Forecast resource requirements and manage contractors and suppliers.
    • Ensure effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs are in place.
    • Drive equipment reliability and availability through data-driven performance monitoring.
    • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.
    • Ensure all engineering activities comply with statutory requirements (e.g., OHSA, General Machinery Regulations, Pressure Equipment Regulations).
    • Manage risk assessments, safe work procedures, and engineering controls.
    • Maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and specifications in accordance with standards.
    • Ensure projects meet quality, cost, safety, and schedule targets.
    • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and operations for project execution.
    • Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability.
    • Evaluate and adopt new technologies that enhance operational performance.
    • Liaise with operations, production, SHEQ, finance, and external regulators.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to other departments.
    • Represent the engineering function in audits, inspections, and management meetings

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12
    • N Diploma/B.Eng./B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering
    • Knowledge of production & warehouse processes
    • Must be able to read and interpret P&IDs/vessel drawings
    • SAP Maintenance
    • Strong understanding of OHSA, General Machinery Regulations, Pressure Equipment Regulations, ISO standards
    • Must be proficient with Delta V
