    Legal Counsel - (LRC-L5.1)

    About the role:

    • The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support, including contract reviews, contract negotiations, claims management, and client interactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal advisory services, strong business acumen and be fluent in English.

    Role responsibilities:

    • Contract Reviews: Review, draft, and revise a variety of contracts, including consultancy and sub-consultancy agreements, non-disclosure and joint venture agreements, collaborating with stakeholders to address and resolve contract related issues and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice to internal clients on contracts and related matters. Support the Legal Team as needed.
    • Risk Mitigation and Compliance: Ensure that contract contains the appropriate minimum content as expected by Zutari to mitigate risk. Participate in periodic compliance audits related to legal matters. Support the Risk Team as needed.   
    • Contract Negotiation: Participate in contract negotiations with clients and business partners to secure favorable terms and mitigate risks.
    • Claims Management: Handle claims and disputes, providing strategic legal advice to mitigate potential liabilities and resolve conflicts efficiently.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business development, procurement, finance, and project management teams to align legal and commercial objectives. Train and educate internal teams on contract terms, legal risks, and company policies to ensure consistent understanding and application.
    • Legal Research: Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry practices, and apply this knowledge to advise the business.
    • Compliance: Ensure that all contracts and business activities comply with local and international laws, regulations, and company policies.
    • Documentation: Maintain organized records of all contracts and related correspondence. Support the Legal Team in the development and review of contract templates, policies, and procedures to reflect best practices and legal requirements. Stay informed of evolving laws and industry regulations that impact the business, especially in international jurisdictions where the company operates.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in law. An admitted legal professional.  A business law or contract management qualification will be advantageous.
    • 2- 3 year’s relevant experience in a similar role. Minimum of 1 year post article experience.
    • Fluency in English is essential, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of contract law and commercial agreements.
    • Proven experience in negotiating and drafting contracts.
    • Familiarity with claims management and dispute resolution processes.
    • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
    • Knowledge of industry standard contracts (FIDIC, NEC).

    Primary Plant Substation Engineer - (ENG-L6.86)

    • Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Substation Design Engineer with extensive experience in the design of high-voltage (HV) substations, from initial concept through to detailed design. The successful candidate will join the Transmission and Distribution team at Zutari, contributing to projects that encompass international renewable plant grid connections and utility strengthening initiatives. These projects span a wide range of voltages, from 11 kV up to 400 kV. 

    Responsibilities: 

    • Providing input into the design of transmission and distribution switching stations and substations which includes design from 11 kV up to 400 kV. 
    • Required to execute Substation Primary Plant design (Develop SLD, GA, Sections, EarthGrid, Lighting, Lightning, CCTV, Trench and Conduit layout) 
    • Compile BOMs, reports and engineering calculations. 
    • Interpret standards and implement calculation formulas in excel. 
    • Compile Primary plant equipment technical specifications and schedules. 
    • Good understanding and knowledge of all substation equipment, structures, hardware, clamps, busbars, cables, and conductors applicable to voltages up to 765 kV. 
    • Basic project management skills 
    • It would be advantageous but not required for candidate to understand and potentially execute  
    • Lightning Protection design in CDEGS based on international standards and Electro Geometric Modelling. (Develop 3D models in SES Shield) 
    • EMF calculations and modelling in CDEGS. 
    • lighting design in Relux and Dialux. (Develop 3D models in CAD and import to Relux or Dialux) 
    • Earthing designs in CDEGS (From soil model development in RESAP up to detailed analysis in MALZ and HIFREQ) 

    Requirements: 

    • B.Eng or B.Sc or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering 
    • 5 years relevant substation primary plant design experience on at least 132 kV systems or above 
    • Required Skills - Excel, Word 
    • Advantageous Skills - MS Projects, CDEGS, CYMCAP, MATHCAD and RELUX or DIALUX 
    • Basic Microstation / Autocad skills 
    • Wide range of general knowledge of electrical engineering

    Project Manager - (PM-L5.7)

    Role responsibilities

    • A solid background in the built environment, public and private sector specializing in project management.
    • Sound knowledge in the use of a variety of project management software. Advanced computer skills.
    • Sound understanding and knowledge of BIM processes will be an advantage.
    • Responsible to assist Project Executives with internal project management which consists of but not limited to; planning and scheduling projects, updating schedules, drafting project execution plans and other related project control documents, review and update monthly project control documents, follow up debtors and other contractual documentation, assist PE with project invoicing and monthly project financials, manage and load variation orders.
    • Whilst the assistance to Project Executives noted above will be the primary focus, the role may also require project management delivery to external clients from time to time which may include but not limited to; project scheduling, management of a multi-disciplinary teams, attending or leading project meetings, contract and construction project management.
    • Prepare reports required by the project, ensuring that all work complies with Zutari ‘s quality control procedures and is implemented to SANS or relevant requirements.

    Resident Engineers - (ENG-L6)

    Overall, Purpose:  

    • Zutari Tshwane / Cape Town is currently looking for Engineer’s Representatives (Resident Engineers) to join their team, responsible for contracts management within the project’s environment, with a special focus on SANRAL Projects.  

    Minimum Requirements

    • BSc or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering  
    • Pr Eng or Pr Tech Registration with ECSA
    • Pr CMP Registration with SACPCMP will be an advantage
    • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in construction and/or projects site supervision
    • Experience as Engineer’s Representative on SANRAL project/s is required
    • Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.) 
    • Thorough working knowledge of Conditions of Contract (FIDIC 1999, NEC 3/4, GCC 2010/2015 and JBCC) will be beneficial
    • Proficient Microsoft Office skills required
    • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
    • Excellent client relation skills

    In addition to the above, the Applicant is required to submit his experience on three of his most recent projects (<10 years ago) in line with the parameters below:

    • Relevance of Experience (Client)
    • The experience should be with Client bodies being either South African National Roads Authority and/or Concessionaire and/or Provincial Authority (indicate relevant client body for each of three projects).
    • Relevance of Experience (Project Type)
    • The Applicant is required to have experience as the Engineer’s Representative (Resident Engineer) in “Development” Improvement” (Road upgrades) and/or “Development New Facilities” (New Road Infrastructure projects) (indicate relevant project type for each of three projects). Structural Experience would be beneficial.
    • Project Delivery
    • Supervise all construction and installation activities on site and monitoring contractor's progress
    • Technical input to the progress reports on all works being carried out at the site, and offer regular update on progress and measurements for work complete
    • Review and monitor equipment, site staff and work methods, identify deficiency of performance before the occurrence of delays and quality issues.
    • Manage and report on all commercial matters: Contractor’s invoice, issue Non-Conformance Reports, Site Instructions, record and justify delays or claims, variation ordered, address non-conformance and discrepancies
    • Ensure site work, laboratory tests and designs are carried out in accordance with specification requirements, codes, and standards, HSE regulations.
    • Ensure proper record keeping of all corresponding information are maintained up to date
    • Manage operation and staff on site.
    • Ensure strict safety and security regulations compliance, and that environmental protection measures during construction are properly carried out.
    • Support Contracts Engineer and Client in delivering project in line with requirement, time frame and meets quality requirement
    • Apply Site Management System based on ISO 9001 QMS

    Role:  

    • Zutari Tshwane / Cape Town is currently looking for Senior Materials Technician (SMT’s) to join their team, responsible for contracts management within the project’s environment, with a special focus on SANRAL Projects.  

    Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum of 20 Years’ experience in the Materials Field without any qualification, or N.Dip in Civil Engineering with minimum of 10 Years’ experience in the Materials Field, or Pr Techni Eng with minimum of 5 Years’ experience in the Materials Field
    • Experience as Senior Materials Technician (SMT) on SANRAL project/s is required
    • Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.) 
    • Proficient Microsoft Office skills required
    • Good administrative skills
    • Analytical and logical skills
    • Good attention to detail
    • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
    • Excellent client relation skills
    • Project Experience

    Port & Coastal Engineer - (ENG-L6.50)

    Description

    • At Zutari our vision is to co-create an engineered impact in society through the advice and projects we do.  We are looking for a dynamic Ports & Coastal Engineer to co-create an engineered impact in the Ports and Coastal environment.  
    • Someone that will augment our multi-disciplinary team to help us fulfil our vision, such as when we designed the Nacala Port in Mozambique, or the Zanzibar Misingani Sea Wall in Tanzania, or conducted Richards Bay Port Capacity Expansion study in South Africa.

    Beneficial technical requirements:
