    Assistant Manager Aviation Security Operations

    Assistant Manager Aviation Security Operations

    An exciting vacancy exists at King Shaka International Airport for an experienced Assistant Manager Aviation Security Operations within the Airport Management Division

    Key Performance Outputs

    The successful candidate, reporting to the Manager Aviation Security, will be responsible for the following:

    • Provide a safe and secure environment and manage security personnel.
    • Manage time and attendance and Conduct Resource planning.
    • Manage entire recruitment process.
    • Manage the performance of staff and oversee outsourced staff and introduce remedial processed where necessary.
    • Ensures professional behavior and application of customer service standards by all staff.
    • Chair and prosecute disciplinary procedures
    • Manage and coordinate activities within own area of discipline.
    • Chair operational meetings and attend stakeholder meetings, including mandatory meetings.
    • Compile and ensure compliance and adherence to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and inspect registers where applicable.
    • Ensure crime prevention measures are in place and ensure all criminal activities are reported.
    • Provide input into Airport Security Program (ASP)
    • Ensure compliance to ASQ and QMS targets
    • Identify and implement contingency plans to mitigate identified security risk.
    • Ensure all internal and External stakeholders comply with security policies and procedures
    • Ensure and operate according to ICAO, NKP and SACAA and other relevant legislation and all ACSA policies and procedures
    • Manage internal and external auditing processes
    • Ensure contract management in line with SLA.

    Technical Skills and Experience

    The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:

    • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) is essential.
    • Relevant Diploma is essential.
    • National Key Point Certification (NKP), Firearm Competency, (SACAA) Dangerous goods/Safe passage/Basic Aviation Security Certification (AVSEC)
    • PSIRA (Grade A).
    • 4 years operational experience essential.
    • 2 years Management experience essential

    Supervisor Aviation Security

    Supervisor Aviation Security

    An exciting vacancy exists at King Shaka International Airport for an experienced professional within the Aviation Security Operations Department.

    Key Performance Outputs

    The successful candidate, reporting to the Assistant Manager Aviation Security Operations will be responsible for the following:

    • Provide a safe and secure environment by supervising the Security personnel at all Search Points.
    • Performance and remedial processes of all staff should be monitored to ensure Security thoroughness and responsiveness, compliance and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 
    • Attend Operations meetings and provide feedback as required. Investigate, report and correct all Security incidents, breaches / deficiencies and non-conformances and ensure adequate remedial action. Conduct audits and inspections, identify and report operational risks and ensure adequate remedial action.
    • Ensure all internal and external stakeholders comply with Security policies and procedures when moving through all Security checkpoints by adhering to ICAO, NKP, SACAA and other relevant Legislation and all ACSA policies and procedures.
    • Build and maintain sound internal and external stakeholder relations whilst balancing enforcement with professionalism. Attend to and assist with customer and stakeholder complaints and compliments, including escalated complaints.
    • Respond to all emergencies in the prescribed manner and ensure the members are able to respond effectively.

    Technical Skills and Experience

    The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:

    • The successful candidate must have a valid Matric (Grade 12) qualification is essential
    • South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Supervisory is essential
    • Accreditations: NKP Certification; Firearm Competency; SACAA Dangerous Goods, SACAA Safe Passage, SACAA Supervisory Level; SACAA Basic Aviation Security Screener certification; PSIRA Grade B registration.
    • 3 years Aviation Security Operational experience with 2 years Supervisory experience and an understanding of Aviation Security policies, practices, procedures, technologies as well as knowledge of quality management systems.
    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office packages.
    • The candidate must have no criminal record and will need to adhere to security clearance procedures.

    Competencies

    • This position calls for an individual who is a problem solver who plans work efficiently and communicates well (verbally and in writing). The candidate must be able to direct people, manage conflict and remain calm under pressure. The successful candidate must be ethical, detail-orientated as well as be customer-centric in order to deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
