    Assistant Accountant - Assets & Finance

    Job Description:

    • Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will be required to co-ordinate the necessary financial activities relating to all Fixed Assets of the Mine and ensure the application of sound commercial, accounting and governance practices.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage the complete fixed assets register to ensure adherence to mine policies, ICFR/Sox compliance and IFRS compliance.
    • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end procedures relating to Fixed Assets including but not limited to detailed depreciation calculations, impacts of impairment per IAS 36, performing physical verification of fixed asset and facilitating the process of reassessment of useful lives and residual values.
    • Compile and manage the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasts of depreciation for the mine.
    • Analyze information related to assets by using appropriate accounting techniques to determine and recommend various alternatives to ensure accuracy.
    • Compiling and managing all on- mine Fixed Asset Policies and Procures supporting continuous business improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with the IFRS Guidelines of Fixed Assets with specific focus on IAS 16 and IAS 36.
    • Build relationships across disciplines by sharing business information and knowledge to enable the attainment of operational objectives.
    • Participate in costing, project and capital accounting to always ensure a close link to business.
    • Assist the Cost and Financial Accountant as and when required.

    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Education & Experience)

    • Grade12/N3 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification.
    • A relevant Bachelor of Commercial Degree or Diploma with finance/ cost accountancy major or equivalent.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in general financial/ cost accounting or an auditing environment.
    • 1 year working experience of SAP , specifically Fixed Assets and projects modules would bean advantage.
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness Certificate) on mine.
    • Your consideration for employment is subject to your SAPS Criminal Record verification and qualifications verification.

    • Strong cost and management accounting competencies.

    Long Hole Drill Rig Technician

    Job Description:

    • Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation and health, safety, environmental and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion.
    • Take over/ hand over shift from off/on-going drill rig operator, attend to any abnormalities first, and then report to the supervisor to receive further instructions.
    • Perform visual Inspections of equipment before, during and after operation according to departmental procedure to minimise breakdowns and operational losses by the timeous reporting of defects / abnormalities to Supervisor.
    • Operate equipment according to relevant mining requirements and Standard Operating Procedures to achieve daily drilling targets.
    • Report and record relevant operational data as required by department procedures to compile production reports.
    • Conduct efficient housekeeping of equipment and work area in accordance with departmental requirements.
    • Perform all activities according to instructions, procedures and mining needs.
    • Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures.

    Qualifications:

    Formal qualifications:

    • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
    • MQA Competent B certificate for underground
    • Long Hole Drill Rig Certificate
    • An underground metalliferous blasting certificate /MQA Rock Breaking Certificate will be advantageous.

    Additional requirements:

    • Code B or higher Driver’s License
    • Required classification as per VTS testing for specific role (Orange +)
    • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • Proven Minimum of 3 year’s practical experience of operating a long hole drill rig (Simba/ Solo) in an underground massive mining environment
    • Previous experience in Sub-level caving/ Block caving will be a definite advantage.

    Sound knowledge and experience of:

    • Underground mining practices and operations
    • Underground long hole drilling knowledge and skills
    • Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining
    • Competent to drill 100 to 150 meters per shift

    Miner I

    Job Description:

    • The Miner is responsible for controlling the relevant mining process by the optimal utilisation of people and equipment to achieve stipulated targets in accordance with the mining plan.

    Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Coordinating and monitoring the relevant Drilling and Blasting activities to ensure adherence to mine standards and operational targets
    • The management of all SLC mining related Explosives
    • Control and management of the CBS, Electronic Det Timing
    • Bulk Emulsion Handling (storage, transportation, charging and blasting process)
    • Control of all Long Hole Drilling Consumables, Drill rods, Shanks, Drill bits etc
    • Dust control Management in drilling section
    • Planning activities in accordance with the mining plan and allocating resources as required
    • Coordinating shift hand over at the beginning of the shift by checking relevant documentation, the required physical mining activities and communicating tasks to team members of the relevant mining crew
    • This role is in the Mining Department at a Band 8 Level and reporting to the Shift Boss.

    Qualifications:

    Education required:

    • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
    • Blasting Certificate for Underground Hard Rock / Equivalent Qualification
    • Required classification as per VTS testing for specific role (Orange)
    • Computer Literacy - MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook)
    • Valid EB/Code 8 Drivers License

    Experience & knowledge required:

    • Minimum of 3 years underground mining experience of which at least 1 year must have included the supervisory skills of planning, organising, leading and controlling in long hole mining.

    Sound knowledge and experience of:

    • Underground mining practices and operations
    • Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining
    • Knowledge of Explosives Regulations (MHSA Chapter 4)
    • Explosives Handling
    • Experience in Emulsion Charging Rig operation
    • Electronic Det Timing
    • Central Blasting System (CBS)
    • Up hole/long hole Charging
    • Sub Level/Block caving

    Other requirements:

    • Be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per what the role may require
    • Must have strong administrative and organisational skills
    • Ability to work under pressure, be independent and a self-starter
    • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground.
    • Medical assessment will include vertigo and claustrophobia amongst others. Able to tolerate physical exertion

    Miner II

    Job Description:

    • The Miner: Development is responsible for controlling the development mining process by the optimal utilisation of people and equipment to achieve stipulated targets in accordance with the mining plan.

    The incumbent is accountable for:

    • Coordinating and monitoring development mining activities to ensure adherence to mine standards and operational targets
    • Planning activities in accordance with the mining plan and allocating resources as required
    • Coordinating shift hand over at the beginning of the shift by checking relevant documentation, the required physical mining activities and communicating tasks to team members of the development mining crew
    • Comply with requirements as per a miner’s appointment under the MHSA
    • Good written English and oral communication including public speaking in front of large groups

    Qualifications:

    Education required:

    • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
    • Blasting Certificate for Underground Hard Rock / Equivalent qualification Experience & knowledge required:
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ underground mining experience as a Development Miner of which at least 1 year must have included the supervisory skills of planning, organising, leading and controlling

    Knowledge and understanding of:

    • Underground mining practices
    • Trackless Mining in underground hard rock mine
    • Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining
    • Willingness and ability to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per what the role will require

    Other requirements:

    • Code B Driver’s License
    • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground

    Principal: Technical and Mining Systems

    Job Description:

    Purpose of the Role:

    • To define, develop, and guide the implementation of an integrated technology strategy for mining operations across land and marine environments.
    • This includes developing technology value pathways for each operation, determining research and development priorities, modelling complex systems end-to-end, and ensuring technology initiatives deliver maximum economic and operational value.
    • This role reports into the Head of Technology

    Key Responsibilities:

    Technology Strategy Development:

    Define long-term technology strategies aligned to business objectives.

    • Develop technology roadmaps (pathways to value) covering the entire mining value chain guided by total systems thinking.
    • Guide investment decisions in technology and innovation for Upstream Technology to ensure our differentiating value and right to offer technical services to the Group.

    Systems Modelling & Analysis:

    • Model total mining systems, including macro and micro cycle times, throughput, logistics, and constraints.
    • Develop systems and select smart software to and evaluate macro and micro process interdependencies to determine optimal outcomes and identify the strategic levers to pull to deliver performance.

    Value Optimisation:

    • Quantify economic benefits of technology initiatives and build interactive models which enable different scenarios and opportunities to be evaluated.
    • Identify opportunities to improve system productivity and reduce costs.
    • Develop business cases and secure buy-in from senior leadership.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Support the operations in developing their pathways to value against the baseline of Diamond Future Smart opportunities aligned to the mines development cycles.
    • Collaborate with operations leadership teams, R&D, finance, and commercial teams.
    • Engage with external partners, OEMs, and technology vendors.

    Technology Governance:

    • Establish standards, frameworks, and KPIs for technology development and deployment.
    • Monitor progress and adjust strategies as required.

    Qualifications:

    Formal Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering
    • MBA or other qualification in Business/Commercial disciplines (advantageous).

    Additional Requirements:

    • 10–15+ years in mining, heavy industrial, or marine operations, including significant exposure to end-to-end systems and technology strategy.
    • Advanced Systems Engineering knowledge.
    • Proven experience modelling large-scale operational systems.
    • Track record of linking technical initiatives to economic value creation.
    • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and projects.

    Technical Skills and Competencies:

    • Advanced systems engineering and process modelling.
    • Deep understanding of mining operations or other large industrial businesses.
    • Financial acumen to model value and risk.
    • Familiarity with emerging technologies (automation, digital, decarbonisation, total system control, etc).
