    Safety Compliance Officer.INT KIA.

    • An exciting opportunity exists at King Shaka International Airport for experienced Safety Compliance Officer within the Operations Management Division.

    Key Performance Output

    The successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Safety Compliance Officer and will be responsible for the following:

    • Implement team operational plans to ensure defined objectives are met.
    • Report non-compliance and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance.
    • Adhere to statutory regulations, organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, international, local, and company standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Conduct compliance inspections, report on, and follow-up to ensure that non-conformances/compliance have been addressed.
    • Respond to incidents and accidents, conduct a preliminary investigation, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Gather and capture information in respect of SHE occurrences, incidents, accidents, and non-conformances.
    • Participate in the implementation of Safety Campaigns.
    • Train and conduct relevant Safety campaigns with the airport community.
    • Comply with work rules, standards and methods and minimize waste.
    • Identify and provide feedback on cost-saving initiatives within the area of control.
    • Attend learning and development courses.
    • Build, support, and maintain interpersonal and team relationships to ensure a stable working environment and achievement of team objectives.

    Technical Skills and Experience

    The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required: 

    • Diploma in Safety Management, Environmental management/natural sciences is essential.
    • Safety Management, Environmental management/natural sciences-Recommended
    • 1-2 operational Safety / Environmental / Risk Management / Public Health.
    • 1-2 operational Construction Management-recommended.
    • 2 years operational Safety management in an airport environment recommended.

    Job Description
    Key Performance Output

    The successful candidate will be reporting to the Fixed Assets Accounting Specialist, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:

    • Provide enabling service and support to your stakeholders including but not limited to project managers and asset owners.
    • Assist in preparation of periodic management accounts, including budgets, forecast, variance analysis and commentaries.
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all applicable ledger accounts and resolve all unreconciled items.
    • Create journals on relevant system.
    • Perform effective query resolution and escalate where unable to assist or resolve.
    • Prepare reconciliations for relevant balance sheet accounts and resolve all reconciling items within their control.
    • Provide relevant and administrative support to business to ensure achievement of objectives.
    • Prepare and complete Tax supporting schedules for SARS.
    • Conduct and manage physical verification, barcoding and accurate entry of fixed asset data into the Fixed asset modules to ensure current assets on the balance sheet are reported accurately to maximize investment value and ensure the best return on investment.
    • Conduct and manage disposal of assets including physical verification, record keeping of asset retirement and disposal documents.
    • Preparing fixed asset schedules for month-end and year-end closing, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
    • Conduct and manage internal and external asset verification audits including Joint Venture asset verification audits.
    • Perform regular asset register verifications including Randomly select assets to test for accuracy, existence and completeness of the Fixed asset register.
    • Process and record, adjustments, enhancements, revaluations and transfers.

    Technical Skills and Experience

    The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required: 

    • A Diploma (NQF 6) in Finance / Accounting related is essential.
    • A 3-year Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7 - 360 credits) in Finance / Accounting related is recommended.
    • SAICA / CIMA / SACA registration is advantageous.
    • 3 - 5 years operational experience in finance is essential.
    • 1 – 2 years technical experience in Assets Management is advantageous.
    • MS Office at intermediate level.
