    Anchor ( JHB North)

    Description

    • The individual will be responsible to deliver professional, well-researched on-air newscasts in Afrikaans, including writing, producing, and conducting interviews relevant to the eNuus audience.

    Writing, Production and Research

    • Translate and write accurate, engaging Afrikaans news copy.
    • Select and edit relevant visuals and soundbytes.
    • Monitor wire services and news feeds for breaking news
    • Assist with news updates and checking accuracy
    • Research and script interviews, ensuring factual accuracy.
    • Stay abreast of current and provide voice-overs as needed.

    Anchoring

    • Arrive at least 90 minutes before going on air for preparation and styling.
    • Anchor Afrikaans news bulletins
    • Rehearse and present Afrikaans news bulletins professionally.
    • Conduct live and pre-recorded interviews.
    • Ad-lib effectively during breaking news.

    Editorial responsibilities

    • Participate in editorial meetings, providing insights on news content.
    • Align reporting with eNuus audience interests.
    • Adhere to editorial guidelines and social media policy.

    Web Editor

    Description

    • The incumbent is responsible for developing, curating, editing, and posting content on eNCA digital platforms.

    Content and Editing

    • Evaluating, editing, and proofreading content submitted by writers or content creators
    • Repurposing eNCA news stories, lives and/or packages for online/digital news.
    • Ensuring all content aligns with the company’s style guide, editorial policies, and brand voice
    • Collaborating with writers, designers, and marketing team to plan and develop site content, style and layout.
    • Stay up-to-date with developments and generate new ideas to draw the audience’s attention
    • Improve viewership, retention, and accuracy through strategic story selection and advanced storytelling.
    • Evaluate all news for authenticity and check with sources to ensure accuracy.
    • Enhance news content by achieving a 10% quarterly increase in average viewership, and a 10% rise in audience retention.
    • Reduce and maintain errors below 10%.
    • Achieve 95% compliance with editorial guidelines
    • Decrease script turnaround time by 20% using standardized checklists, training, and digital tools.
    • Standardize editing checklists and utilize digital editing tools to maintain high editorial standards and strengthen the Company's credibility.

    Live Streams

    • Ensure that livestreams are set up on time before they are due to go live
    • Ensure that the social media team has promoted the live stream ahead of time
    • Ensure that the livestreams run efficiently and without technical errors.

    Digital ( website) Management and Analytics

    • Manage all digital platforms ensuring news meets specific requirements and output.
    • Top stories and news updates updated and/or reviewed hourly.
    • Optimizing content for search engines and lead generation
    • Managing content across all platforms, including email and social media
    • Tracking web traffic and user engagement (e.g. bounce rates, time spent on page), and suggesting solutions to boost web presence
    • Monitoring and analysing content performance and making recommendations based on those results.
    • Updating website content as needed and ensuring the website content is accurate, grammatically correct, and informative.
    • Monitor analytics used by eNCA on daily basis to ensure effective placement and coverage of Online and video content.
    • Secure a 10% analytics increase on monthly basis.

    Floor Manager

    Studio & Production Oversight

    • Floor manage in-studio and outside broadcasts.
    • Update presenters with script changes during live broadcasts.
    • Ensure guests arrive on time and understand studio protocols.
    • Check functionality of equipment (microphones, earpieces, etc.).
    • Relay instructions from the control room to the studio floor.
    • Supervise set arrangements, including furniture, props, and audience seating.
    • Manage on-air discipline and handle technical issues as they arise.
    • Halt production if necessary due to safety or technical concerns.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
    • Maintain all health and safety requirements
    • Supervising and verifying the set process, i.e. equipment — screens, chairs, props, microphones and technical gear, as required.
    • Directing and guiding studio audience as required.

    Gallery Coordinator

    Floor Manager   

    • Meet and greet studio guests and ensure that they are safe on the studio floor and that they are mic’ed up.
    • Ensuring that all equipment on the floor is in working condition, report all faults immediately to engineers.
    • Manage the execution of the show on the floor as per the Technical Director’s instructions.
    • Ensure guest safety, equipment functionality, and smooth execution of studio productions.

    Graphics

    • Verify and operate Viz machine and associated software.
    • Verify and operate graphics playout systems, ensuring accuracy and seamless on-air display.
    • Ensuring that the graphics rundown is correct and preview all graphics before triggering to air.
    • Operate graphics playout systems during live and pre-recorded productions.

    Autocue  

    • Prepare, manage/operate, and sync scripts to maintain smooth delivery for anchors.
    • Compile, review and preview all scripts, to ensure that all scripts are cleaned before the start of each production.
    • Review and update all script changes then deliver updated scripts to Anchors timeously. 

    Vision Control     

    • Ensuring that the equipment (Cameras, CCU’S, Studio lights, Robotics) is switched on and in good working order.
    • Balance cameras to get the exact colour output and ensure that all studio cameras match.
    • Performing camera back focus where required to ensure that the focal point is accurate.
    • Framing camera shots according to the Technical Directors requirements, perform robotic on air camera movements as required.
    • Monitor, balance, and adjust cameras, lighting, and robotics for optimal visuals.

    Server Operations

    • Setting up and operating different types of video playback devices i.e server, tapes, cinedeck.
    • Execute direction from Technical Director and Producer on which content to playback. Following and executing playback instructions as per running order.
    • Creating and maintaining appropriate logs and labels for removable media i.e. tapes, HDD’s.

    Vision Mixing  

    • Verify the vision mixing desk ensuring working order to ensure seamless production.
    • Select, transition, and enhance visuals per the director’s instructions, adapting settings as required.
    • View different types of images from a variety of sources, i.e. pictures from several cameras, digital video effects, graphics and outside broadcast materials.
    • Under instructions from the director, selecting the required images and combining them, ensuring a smooth transition between shots – this involves ‘cutting’, ‘mixing’ and ‘wiping’. Setup DVE effects and create new show styles on request.
    • Ability to adapt the vision mixing desk settings on the fly on request from the Technical Director.

    Support & Coordination  

    • Stand in for Technical Director when required and ensure with the director a smooth technical and visual production.
    • Manage production crew ensuring everyone is fully aware of what is required from them.
    • Double check elements before switching on air to ensure that they correct and are according to the show requirements.
    • Help train and mentor other members of the Technical Operations team.
