    HR Manager- TV

    What you’ll do:

    • Manage and communicate HR activities in a creative, pro-active and enthusiastic manner;
    • Implement and support HR strategies to ensure business goals are achieved;
    • Review processes and practices to ensure the HR service is smart, effective and efficient;
    • Implement and manage performance, disciplinary, succession, recruitment and remuneration activities;
    • Inform and implement the learning and development strategy;
    • Facilitate employee relations issues , including engagement efforts;
    • Promote and ensure compliance with employment equity, also provide support the division’s EE Forum;
    • Execute all administrative and contractual requirements in a speedy and effective manner (including contracts for suppliers and freelancers);
    • Manage legalities and compliance issues regarding freelancers;
    • Support team on projects as required and lead key projects where needed;
    • Implement and support career and personal development initiatives;
    • Provide accurate and timeous HR information and reports as required;
    • Provide coaching support and guidance to the management team and staff.

    What you’ll bring:

    • A tertiary qualification.
    • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a knack to manage complexity and liaise with various internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Astute creative problem-solving skills and adaptability, with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

    Junior Journalist - Cape Town

    The position entails:

    Contributing editorially and in other aspects towards all departments of the newspaper, but especially the supplements and corporate content team, in accordance with operational and production requirements and on reasonable request of management. This can inter alia include:

    • Editorial and other projects for example regarding matric results and special schools events such as the annual Schools Guide and Matric supplement
    • Editorial contributions for other supplements, including writing stories for Jip, Motors, Gesond, Landbou, Eiendomme and Versnit
    • Editorial contributions towards special projects of supplements
    • Help with signing off supplements if editor is away and standing in when editors are not available
    • Rendering copy for the main newspaper on request of news managers
    • Joining weekend teams
    • Liaising with readers as well as public and private institutions, in so doing building effective relationships with the relevant people and institutions, which will include after-hours functions where necessary
    • Representing the newspaper and its supplements in a credible, professional and ethical way within working hours as well as after hours at events and functions such as work sessions, festivals, etc., enhancing a network of contacts and expertise
    • Broadening the readers’ footprint and creating opportunities for possible advertising income by creative use of digital platforms, especially social media 
    • Development of article proposals to provide content that is highly relevant, interesting and/or useful to readers.

    Extended objectives in this area would include:

    • Involvement in the editorial management of supplements, should the situation arise.

    The position requires a well-rounded journalist with:

    • Experience of gathering news
    • Good writing skills
    • Good photographic abilities
    • Good knowledge and skills regarding digital platforms and especially social media
    • Ability to work according to plan so that content will be ready, processed and packaged on time within the agreed deadlines
    • Resourcefulness, efficiency and enthusiasm beneficial towards content for Die Burger and its supplements as a whole.

    Content Producer

    What You’ll Need to Succeed:

    • Excellent writing skills: fluent in English (written and spoken) with attention to tone, accuracy, and clarity
    • A solid understanding of content marketing, social media, and digital publishing trends
    • A working knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe software (Word, Excel, Photoshop, Premiere, etc.)
    • Experience using a WordPress CMS or editing basic HTML is a plus
    • Familiarity with social media best practices and platform-specific content formats
    • Ability to conceptualise and script for videos, podcasts, and multimedia campaigns
    • Visual thinking: understanding how words, images, and video work together

    • Manage content uploads and publishing schedules as required
    • Maintain editorial quality standards and file management protocols
    • Brief and collaborate with designers and videographers
    • Take on ad hoc tasks as part of a collaborative team

    Designer

    What you'll do:

    • Design for both print and digital platforms across multiple clients and sectors
    • Conceptualise and craft editorial and social content that connects and converts
    • Develop digital assets such as web banners, newsletters, and UI templates
    • Create motion graphics to bring campaigns to life
    • Collaborate with our editorial, strategy, and production teams
    • Adhere to and evolve within brand CI guidelines
    • Work closely with the Group Art Director to deliver top-quality design solutions
    • Attend planning sessions and contribute to content brainstorming
    • Embrace feedback and grow through training and upskilling opportunities

    What you’ll bring:

    • A degree or equivalent qualification in design
    • 2+ years of design experience, ideally with well-known brands or in agency settings
    • 2+ years of digital design experience (UX, social, newsletters, web, etc.)
    • A strong digital portfolio
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canvas and a Mac-native workflow
    • A team spirit, problem-solving mindset, and a passion for beautifully crafted work
