    General Worker

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 certificate (Std 10) required or equivalent.
    • 1-2 years general worker experience and exposure in nature conservation related work (alien clearing, integrated fire management that includes fire management and law enforcement).
    • Driver’s License.
    • Basic knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety.
    • Must be physically fit.
    • Basic knowledge of general maintenance and inspection.
    • Good Hygiene practices.
    • Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards relevant to the field.
    • Knowledge of First Aid.
    • Provide own transport to and from workplace.
    • Perform Standby duties on weekends and Public Holidays.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Chainsaw and Brush cutter competencies.
    • Experience with machinery and equipment.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform basic conservation duties of physical and routine natures that includes the implementation of invasive plant, alien animal and natural soil erosion and rehabilitation management programs.
    • Fire protection, which include wildfire suppression, conducting prescribed burns and preparation of fire breaks.
    • Infra-structure maintenance including buildings, roads, hiking trails, day walks, footpath, gardens, tourism facilities and signage.
    • General Maintenance and upkeep of terrain, gardens, staff villages etc.
    • General forestry duties.

    Officer: Science Liaison Cape Research Centre, Scientific Services

    • A vacancy currently exists for Officer: Science Liaison to be based in the Cape Research Centre. This role in Scientific Services provides support to external scientists and researchers to conduct biodiversity research within the national parks.
    • This includes logistic, administrative guidance in the application process, general coordination between Scientific Services, Park Management, and the Researcher.

    Requirements

    • NQF level 6 in Natural/Social Sciences/Environmental/Biophysical Science.
    • Understanding research design and methodologies.
    • Minimum 2-4 years ecological experience.
    • Biodiversity related legislation (NEMPAA,etc.)
    • Computer literacy, especially databases and spreadsheets.
    • Science communication and dissemination (blogs, infographics, visuals)
    • Communication skills.
    • Project management/administration experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Facilitate and monitor the research project registration process for parks within the associated Scientific Services Research Unit.
    • Develop an approach to maximize organizational learning from research projects.
    • Take a leading role in SANParks emerging intellectual property debate.
    • Facilitate logistics (accommodation, access, decals, game guards). support to visiting researchers.
    • Ensure compliance of research processes with SANParks policy and alignment with organizational protocol.
    • Assist facilitation and organizational of scientific engagements i.e. workshops/symposia/webinar.
    • Submit quarterly reporting to the Conservation Services Division.
    • Archive final reports, data, and metadata.
    • Assists with preparations and smooth running of the Science Network Meeting and associated social media posts.
    • Interface between researchers and SANParks management, ensuring projects are compliant with legislation, aligned with organisational priorities, and supported logistically where feasible.
    • Science–Management Interface – Engage with park managers, section rangers, and researchers. Provide input to research strategy and committee meetings.

    Gate Administrator (Fixed-Term Contract)

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 certificate (Standard 10) required or equivalent.

    Responsibilities

    • Greet and welcome guests upon arrival and always interact with them in a polite and friendly manner.
    • Access Control by registering of all guests, suppliers and staff entering the park.
    • Assist with security and safety of guests/visitors.
    • Effectively communicating with guests and providing them with information about facilities and activities at Tsitsikamma Section of Garden Route National Park and loyalty cards, i.e., Wild Card.
    • Directs the flow of traffic and guests in and out of the park.
    • Accepting payments from guests, handling financial transactions and balancing cash takings daily according to company policy.
    • Maintain daily statistics.
    • To receive, handle enquiries and direct telephone calls and where specified, relay telephone messages timeously.
    • Taking calls after hours from guests in need of assistance and direct accordingly.
    • Work hours will include late and early shifts.
    • Working 6 days a week including weekends and public holidays.
    • To adhere to company dress code and protocol.

    Practitioner: Supply Chain Management

    Requirements

    • Must be in a possession of a National Diploma in Supply Chain Management/ Logistics or National Diploma in Financial Management or Accounting with relevant experience.
    • Degree would be an added advantage.
    • Experience in construction related procurements will be advantageous.
    • Should have 2 – 4 years’ experience in a Supply Chain Management.
    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act.

    Responsibilities

    • Review of specifications and Issue Requests for quotations, evaluate quotes, recommend successful bidder.
    • To maintain regional contracts registers used as mechanisms to monitor annual payments to service providers.
    • To coordinate the identification of regional procurement needs as informed by the Annual Procurement Plan, Demand Management Plan and Budget.
    • To provide expert advice to end-users regarding the development of short- and long-term service level agreements for repeat purchases in conjunction with the Supply Chain Corporate Office.
    • To build, maintain and manage stakeholder relations.
    • To monitor and report on supply chain transactions as per the directive from Corporate Supply Chain Office.

    • To perform any other responsibilities as assigned to by the supervisor.
    • Coordinate the bid specification, bid evaluation, and bid adjudication committees, and ensure the proper functioning of the committees including all record keeping and secretariate functions.
    • Maintaining of the deviation, variation, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure registers.
    • Coordinate efficient contract management activities.
    • Coordinate the demand Management process in accordance with the supply chain management policy and legislative requirements.
    • Timeous reporting of supply chain management activities and annual procurement plan.
    • Implement preferential procurement and Broad-Based Economic Empowerment
    • Respond to request for information requested by auditors within a two-day turnaround time.
