    Senior Brand Manager: Culinary

    Job Description
    THE JOB AT A GLANCE

    • As a Brand Manager you will report into a Marketing Manager or Marketing Director. You lead the plan development and execution of the brand(s) in your portfolio by understanding, anticipating, creating and meeting consumer needs. You will achieve this by leveraging consumer and shopper insights to craft brand/s that consumers love, and by executing compelling brand plans that are delivered through exceptional brand
    • experiences in terms of innovation, communication and activation. On a daily basis this involves articulating and delivering the full marketing mix for your brand. You will work with the Marketing centres of excellence, leveraging their expertise to optimise pricing, promotion s, product innovation, packaging and marketing mix.

    Responsibilities

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Translate marketing insights and analysis of key issues and opportunities into clear & compelling Brand Plans detailing execution of Category Strategy, Pricing & Channel Strategy, Promotions Plan and Innovation Plan to deliver agreed growth agenda (volume, value, profit)
    • Track and monitor performance of your brands against financial targets and plans
    • Identify, define, develop, deliver & track insight driven innovation and renovation that is accretive to the brand and category (volume, value, profit). This includes defining the product & packaging solution, for customer team the trade solution, and for consumers compelling communication
    • Partner with the Consumer Insights team to generate brand relevant insights from all touch points; including market & internal analytics, competitive intelligence, consumer behaviour, trend data and other appropriate sources
    • Lead creative agency through the Communication Strategy process for your brand(s), culminating in the deliver of a Communication Strategy sign off and campaign judging and sign off of above the line and below the line campaigns vs the agreed brand blueprint
    • Set pricing targets informed by your in depth understanding of brand positioning and by leveraging pricing insights and guidelines provided by Revenue Management
    • Ensure key day to day Brand Management tasks are executed fully and to a high level of quality including S&OP forecasting, media planning, customer promotion tracking, Marketing Investment spend and management, quality tracking, brand health and share tracking and range management

    Qualifications

    • Well-rounded consumer goods experience spanning Marketing and preferably Customer roles
    • Consumer obsession and insights driven a thirst for understanding how consumers operate within your category and use that to drive strategy and decision making

    Lead Product Technologist

    Job Description
    THE JOB AT A GLANCE:

    • You will be responsible for the successfully development of good quality, sustainable, and cost effective products that are informed by a clear NPD brief. You will be expected to deliver on tasks on multiple project work streams within confined timelines, taking the lead role for supplier interface within the business/category, supporting and occasionally standing in for the NPD Manager to prioritise and drive projects to completion.

    Responsibilities
    WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE:

    • Work with suppliers to develop and source new raw materials that are specifically suited to the product ensuring that the raw materials have the necessary Certifications (Halaal / Kosher, etc.)
    • Develop formulations based on product concepts provided by Category Brand teams with claims and regulatory restrictions in mind and make a prototype of the product
    • Correct and timeous completion of documentation and ensure it is filed correctly (Raw Material Circulation form, Trial request, Trial report, etc.)
    • Identify opportunities for the substitution of new raw materials in current products
    • Employ sustainable design techniques in the development of new products (e.g. life cycle design, design for recycling, reduced waste, etc.)
    • Stake Holder Management
    • Play a strong role in external customer interface
    • Provide Category Marketing with all key information necessary for designing consumer product research 
    • Work with outsourced manufacturers for 3rd party projects
    • Recipe Development
    • Draw up development recipes and submit to Finance for approval, after which ensure all recipe data is loaded into our R&D system
    • Conduct ambient and accelerated shelf-life tests
    • Send samples for micro testing and for independent lab testing to ensure claims can be met
    • Continuous Improvement
    • Conduct pre-trial meetings with the unit and thereafter conduct online trials to determine capability of the plant. Ensure that the prototype developed is able to run online.
    • dHACCP studies – communicate any sensitive raw materials / changes to the plant or processes
    • Interface strongly with Supply Chain to prioritize and execute CI and process optimization projects
    • Determine plant requirements and aid with capex (capability) requirements
    • Packaging Development
    • Calculate NI’s and GDA’s and ensure back panel of packaging is correct

    Qualifications
    ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • ND, BSc, BTech in Food Science, Food Technology Biochemistry or Chemistry
    • 6 – 8 years’ Experience in Product development within an FMCG environment
