Technical Support  

• Providing technical support during live broadcasts.
• Providing technical line-ups,testing, and routing of all incoming live satellite and fibre feeds.
• Assisting SNG/ENG crews with repairs and maintenance of their equipment.
• Providing first line support to all operational personnel.
• Assisting in diagnosing and correcting faults finding down to component level.
• Assisting in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Ensuring drawings and documentation are up to date if future installation changes occur.

Preventative Maintenance

• Performing preventative maintenance per published schedule.
• Completing routine system checks as per published schedule.
• Identifying possible breakdown points and develop preventative plans to minimize down time.
• Investigating and submitting fault finding report during breakdowns to prevent future downtime.
• Investigating escalated incidents to responsible service owners and seek resolution.
• Facilitating recovery following resolution of incidents.

Requirements

• A National Senior Certificate
• A National Diploma in Engineering and/or Computer Systems
• A minimum of 3 years experience in Broadcast Engineering

Description

• The incumbent would be required to ensure all technical aspects of the bulletin are met. To assist with producing creative and compelling content for the Channel.

• Good knowledge of South African and global news.

• Fact checking all details.
• Stories must be accurate and unbiased.
• Be able to write factual copy with mininal supervision.

Technical

• Excellent understanding of newsroom workflow systems( Dalet).
• Ability to edit visuals, cut headlines according to script.
• Cutting of bytes, interviews and overlay.
• Conduct research on programme topics.
• Check electronic media, social media and articles of interest.
• Check archives for specified and appropriate visuals.

Communication

• Ability to work in a team.
• Good inter-personal skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a breaking news environment.
• Being able to problem solve especially in a breaking news environment.
• Have valuable contacts to enhance the channel’s news coverage through unique tip-offs.
• Be persuasive and convincing to newsmakers that the channel needs to be on top of news.
• Compile and provide info pack for the Anchors for guest interviews.
• Arrange and suggest guests for the various shows.

Requirements

Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate - Essential
• Advanced Diploma in Broadcast and/or Journalism - Essential
• Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast and/or Journalism - Advantageous

Experience

• 3 years in Broadcast / Journalism / Producing - Essential
• Driver's Licenses - Essential

Computer Literacy

• MS Office Suite - Basic
